Why? Because I am taking my 6 year old son to his first Cats football game that's why!
Anyone else bringing someone to their first game or just bringing someone awesome for that matter? I get to do both this weekend!

Had to hold my then-4yr-old through 4OT. My back still hurts. I'm waiting to see how construction, etc. affects the NEZ before I try bringing him again.

2 years ago, I took my 3 week old son to his first. It was a special moment.

Taking my 8 month old daughter to her first game! :tucksinshirtfirmly:
-
I doubt he will make it to halftime. He has the attention span of a 6 year old, but he is super excited and is telling everyone he is going with his daddy only..."just me and daddy, no one else!"

That's awesome...my kid would rather stay at home and play Lego Star Wars on the Wii

They grow out of it.

My kids were 6 when they went to their first game. The prospect of fireworks after the game kept them in it....that and a healthy dose of Sprite and Skittles.
-
he looks small for a 6 y/o in your picture, might want to have the doc check that out.

Just hired a UT grad in our office. Honestly, he's a great guy. We were socially hanging out one night and he came over in a UT shirt. Very modest; nothing burnt orange or anything. I still asked him to put on a K-State shirt if he's going to work in our office. He immediately took it off and changed.
This weekend, I will be breaking him into a little tailgating and then the best collegiate football experience ever in my family seats. I'm very excited to transition him to the winning team.

Yup. Keep it up.

If I still lived in Kansas I'd definitely want to take my son to a game. He just turned six as well so I know what you mean about the attention span. I will be taking my wife to her first game at Morgantown in October though. Can't wait.
-
When I took my son to his first game, we went with my folks and my wife came. It wasn't bad because the grandparents wanted to play with him, so I didn't have to do much except hold him part of the game. My wife wanted to take him to some this year (he is 2 now) and I don't think it would be such a good idea.

Your wife may be the love of your life, but she is bat crap crazy if she wants to bring a two year old to a game that has National Championship implications. You will be leaving by the middle of 2nd quarter.

I have made it clear that she can do what she wants, but whatever she chooses will not interfere with football. I have very few rules in my house, but they are strict.

Hate to break it to all you proud parents, but nobody outside your family gives a crap about your kids.

Not really, only one real friend has a kid and he lives 3 hours away. I just get super annoyed when parents start talking about their kids like I should care. I assume you have a youngin' that is pretty much guaranteed to be all state qb in HS.....at least what you can tell from his first season in pop warner?

You should teach your children to behave. My 3 year old is starting her 4 year with season tickets and my 1 year old is starting her second. They both sit nicely and watch the game, its called expected behavior.
Also I have kids and people randomly talking about their kids bother me. My kids are goddamned elite K-Stateriots I know this because people tell me, not because I ask.

You should not be so quick to judge another parent. All children are not the same. I find it entirely unbelievable that your 1 yr old "sits" through the whole game. Many parents don't want to take children to a game not because they don't behave, but because simply caring for your child makes it difficult to enjoy the game. Food, bathroom, naps, etc.

i saw a shot of a young couple with a tiny child who was wearing adorable blue headphones to block the noise.
was it a goEMAW baby?

take it to the Kids thread you tucks

You're right. The bat crap crazy line rubbed me the wrong way. My one year old does sit through the games as has my 3 year old.

Sorry MIR, I was probably pak'd when I wrote that. I had a couple nice days of pak'n and bbs'n and got carried away. What I meant is that, even with well behaved kids, you have to take them to the bathroom/change diapers/ naps/ feeding schedules, etc. If my wife said we had to take the kids at a very young age, then I would say, "No we do not. Babysitters need jobs, too. I am watching the game. I will be a good dad the rest of the w/e, but for 3 hours, I am going to watch football." Nobody is batshit crazy.

Just feel that I should report in on my 'dickishness':
UT grad said he'd experienced nothing like it before. Loved the intensity, spirit, and died laughing when the band played happy trails. He said "I am ever so grateful to you Doom_Catz. Today was the best day of my life."

Pro-tip: UT grads/fans aren't sincere, especially when dealing with their bosses.

Have you ever carried 80 lbs of sleeping boys? In searing heat? For a mile?
I have.
Enjoy the game!
