Title: goEMAW technological wizards
Post by: SdK on August 30, 2012, 11:35:21 AM
Scheme me up a scheme to fix my computer please. I can no  longer watch streaming video edit: full screen without it being choppy. What do I have to do? Is my computer from 2008 just done? It's a Sony Vaio VGN-NS140E if that that helps.

Do you still have the original windows disc? If so I would throw that sucker in and just reboot the entire system.

Is anything else you do pretty choppy, or just full screen video? When you say "Streaming video", do you mean youtube? Does this happen if you try to play a DVD full screen?

DVD, videos downloaded, etc. Full screen no problem.

It's when I try to stream a video from youtube, hulu, etc. that I have issues.

Your computer is still pretty new, so this probably is not the problem, but have you tried simply reloading the computer?

Go to youtube and load up a video, right click in the video and select "settings"

Uncheck (or check) enable hardware acceleration and see if that helps

Didn't help. I'll just take it somewhere. Thanks for all the advice though guys. I appreciate it.

It's not speed, the speed test on youtube has me at 10.06 mbps.

open your Chrome Web browser, and then in the address bar, type about:plugins. After you press enter, you’ll see a list of all the plug-ins installed in Chrome. Look through the list for the Flash entry. If the entry looks like Flash (2 Files), this may indicate that the source of your Flash-related crashes is a conflict between the two files. Of course, you’ll want to disable one of these files to ensure that, moving forward, Chrome only utilizes one of these files when it needs to use Flash.

Are you asking if it is an external hard drive? If so, no it's internal. I spilled something on it and replaced the hard drive and upgraded to Windows 7. It's entirely possible, they are just fried I guess.  :dunno:

I am really really thinking about getting a Samsung Chromebook for the $249. I think it will be perfect for class. Is there anything I may not be considering? Drawbacks? Bad experiences?

I have my Sony Vaio that I have to keep plugged in and my Note II. I think the Chromebook will be a perfect technological bridge!

I just need internet, word, presentations, spreadsheets, pretty much. Something to take to class. I have my laptop at home for anything else I think I would need. To me it would just be a non touch screen tablet. If I had more 0s I would just get a tablet and keyboard.

I haven't ran mine nonstop for the duration of a battery cycle, so I can't really attest to that. It makes it through a full day of class for me with still having over half of the battery left. Yes, to the hdmi.
