Is there anything worse?
-Tacky? Check
-Looks terrible? Check
-Pain to remove? Check

And here I was thinking this was going to be a cool desktop wallpapers thread.
Got my hopes up. :shakesfist:

far more durable than paint

My grandparents moved into a house in the early 80's and one of the bedrooms was decked out in some totally bitchin' 70's Star Wars wallpaper. I was devastated when they eventually took that wallpaper down.
-
not hard to remove if installed properly, but most people don't do it correctly.
-
laminated wallpaper
-
They make some pretty elite wall paper these days.

Not really you don't.
The kitchen at my house junior year had chicken and egg wallpaper that I didn't notice until we were cleaning the walls to move out.

I thought this was about the bay area pop star in the making.

The kind of wallpaper that I would actually not mind having is not worth it. Would be less expensive to laminate $5 bills to the wall.
I am much more of a paint person. Love changing colors.
-
No suprise here that paperclams loves wallpaper since wallpaper sucks.
-
I'm actually installing wall paper in my office next week. Dry Erase wall paper to be exact. I'm actually very :excited:
They said, "hey doom_Catz, we can just get you a dry erase board." I said no... I want the whole wall to erase.
-
super elitey designer types refer to wallpaper as wall covering.
FWIW.
-
Paint is superior
-
paint, wallpaper, wallpaper, paint. does it really matter in the grand scheme of things? probably not but it's great that we have this bbs to exchange such ideas.
some wallpaper, some paint? some paint and a lot of wallpaper? i don't know the answer, who do i look like, david bromstad? (i wish!)
regardless of where you fall on this issue, i won't judge you. i won't pretend that my way is better, that it better be my way or it's the highway. because that's just not the case.
just like maverick and goose said in Top Gun, "I feel the need—the need for speed!"

Really?
I thought it was stupid.

I just paint right over the wallpaper.

i was waiting for this. you will be kicked in the balls at some point in the near future.

I'm sure wallpaper will make a comeback once everyone forgets what a pain in the ass it is to remove. It will be all the rage for 10 years until people go to take it off and once again realize that wallpaper is the dumbest idea ever.

Just found out last week that my cube has a dry erase board running around the whole thing. Obviously, I've been writing stuff on it since.

Hey guys! Want to come over(Prairie Village) sometime this week or weekend(not saturday) and help me strip some wallpaper off my gpa's old house? I've got one room 3/4 done and another room and hallway to work on.
I'll buy beer and snacks(OK Joes bbq)!!!!
-
I would if I were in KC. Are you using vinegar & water?

No DIF solvent, hot water and sponge. Score, soak, wait 10 min, soak again, start peeling. I get the main wallpaper section off but the backing never comes off.
Its some sort of shitty waterproof wallpaper that doesnt let the water get absorbed
-
I had two rooms that went like this: paint on wallpaper on paint on wallpaper on paint. People are rough ridin' lazy. I stripped it all off (good house karma to remove wall paper and not paint over it) and the rooms look great.
-
Also to all you wallpaper removing rookies, Tide has an enzyme in the detergent that helps loosen the paper.

I would but I don't think I would be of much help as I would constantly be on the lookout for Southern Copperheads. Actually, that might not be a bad idea. I could just drink beer and eat BBQ while maintaining snake watch thus ensuring your wallpaper stripping safety.

He is trying to remove wallpaper not get rid of that not so fresh feeling.

In the early 80s I had some bitchin' Star Wars wallpaper. Looked like vehicle plans and schematics. Parents would only let me have it on one wall in my room though.

Your parents sound like a couple of real hard asses, dmartin.
