Some of you may think this should just go in the "TV Shows" thread. Well, you're idiots.

My God. Nothing will ever touch this show as far as cleverness and subtlety. I've seen the series about six times through (now in the middle of season 2 for a seventh time) and there are still layers of jokes that I haven't even noticed yet. So brilliant.
-
its cleverness and subtlety are big reasons why the show failed, i think. it was too complex for a lot of people to follow (people much dumber than myself).
that show moves fast, very fast
season 1 averaged 6 million viewers per episode. the finale of 2 Broke Girls captured 9 million viewers. by my math, 2 Broke Girls is 3 million viewers better of a show than any episode of season 1 of Arrested Development.
point, set, match, 2 Broke Girls takes the crown in this battle royale of situation comedy television.

Not as cool as the other photos, but my friend was walking around the studio last week and saw this:

It might have failed on Fox, but I think it's going to be a gold mine for Netflix.
-
a gold mine. how do you figure?
-
a gold mine. how do you figure?
Because they're packaging it with 2 Broke Girls. :excited:

a gold mine. how do you figure?
Strong dvd sales indicate that a whole lot of people are willing to pay for a season of Arrested Development, and when they can subscribe to Netflix to watch all of season 4 at once, many of them will do that. It's the perfect show for them to have picked up.

the show still holds a niche audience, regardless of how popular of a subculture it owns. people are equally as dumb today as they were when the show was cancelled. i suspect the show will continue to fly right over the majority of potential viewers heads.
plus, they're dropping all 10 episodes at one time. most viewers will probably have watched them within a week of release.
-
Who cares, they're doing it for the real fans and that's rough ridin' cool of all of them.

they're doing it to serve as a big long commercial/trailer for the upcoming movie. lol at them doing it for the "real fans"

A lot will depend on the other Netflix original series' ability to keep new viewers hooked, but Arrested Development will get them to subscribe and tune in in the first place.

One of my favorites that took me about 3-4 times to notice was when Jason asked Maeby if George Michael had a shot at being school president and she says, "That's like comparing apples to some fruit no one has ever heard of". So great.
Also, I hope the joke that never got used about Tobias being an albino black person comes up in this season. Would be great.

I think you missed viewer inflation or something, idk.

Wait, is arrested development on instant watch now? My old roommates parents login is still on my xbox. How has Netflix not figured out the 8 different devices in 5 different cities thing yet? How many people actually pay for Netflix, 13?

Only one person can watch at the same time across devices. Please god, don't ask for more DRM.

Not asking for more drm, but that is false.
Arrested Development in the foreground on laptop, Reservoir Dogs on the Xbox in back.
Other picture hard to read, but it shows top picks for "Steven".

Yeah, not buying the "doesn't allow you to play it from to different devices at once" thing. I believe that Netflix said that, but not that they actually monitor it.
-
You didn't have to take a picture, I would have believed you.

I mostly was checking to see, figured I'd take a pic while I was at it.

great show. parents are fans from way back.

There's always money in the banana stand.

I never really watched Arrested Development. I'd see bits and pieces, but never really paid much attention to it.
Because of this thread, I've watched the first 4 episodes on Netflix and I'm starting to become hooked. It is pretty decent.

Yes, he's right. You have no idea what you're in for. "I'd see bits and pieces" is a really awful way to watch this show. It's like, don't start halfway paying attention to an episode while you fold laundry at your brother's house that is in the middle of season 2. You have no idea who the characters are or how they're related to each other or what jokes they're calling back to.
Keep us posted OK Cat.
-
Did they change actresses for the character "Marta" after the show where they go to the Mexican awards show? The first was better looking than the second.

I have watched every episode twice, and some a few more. Tobias is my favorite character, followed closely by GOB.

Yes they did.
-
GOB is so amazing. He's the best. Favorite supporting character is Gene Parmesan.
ok cat. Yes. The newer Marta isn't as hot.
I saw an interview that said 13 episodes. :excited:
-
I heard they're releasing all 13 Episodes at once. Could be a rough weekend.

I think it's only 10 episodes, guys. All the things I've read have said 10. But yes, it's gonna be released all at once.

update: last night i got up to episode 6 of season 2. such a wonderful show. i really feel like a complete loser for having not watched this show sooner. the on-going bits about george michael's girlfriend get me every time.
-
...her?
-
My favorite is:
Lindsey: Check out who's on that hog behind us!
Michael (spins around quickly): GEORGE MICHAEL!
George Michael: Yeah?
Michael:........only a few more exits until Legoland.

pfft. so great.
Steve Holt (STEVE HOLT!) is also a great character.
-
I'm nearing the end. so sad.
i love how they just put the show on cruise control near the end. pretty great. the random plotline with charlize theron was hilarious.
i'm watching the episode where they have andy richter on there as 4 quintuplets right now. so awesome.
-
It's just the best. Oh and let's keep the spoilers to a minimum because I still hold out hope that some lurkers like WonderMeal will still watch this show. Convince WonderMeal to watch this show, everybody.
-
Have you gotten to the Save Our Bluth's episode yet? It's so meta, and yet so pertinent. Amazing writing. The narrator is hilarious in that one.
-
yeah ron howard probably needs more praise as narrator. he finishes off long-working punchlines very nicely.
-
Just read an article about the new season. The whole cast is back, and Kristen Wiig is going to be playing a young Lucille. Looks like a storyline will be from when she was younger. Seems pretty great.
-
OK Cat did you finish the whole show? I'm about through with my 7th or 8th viewing and still noticing new crap. Oh and the third season is criminally underrated by most people, imo. Still so, so good.
Best show ever. Most brilliant thing I've ever seen on the tubes.
-
Jesus, this is going to be great.
http://www.themarysue.com/kristen-wiig-arrested-development/
Fans of hilarity, we have some good news for you: Kristen Wiig is set to guest star in the fourth season of Arrested Development as the younger version of Bluth clan matriarch Lucille (Jessica Walter), Goddess of Bitter Snark.
The 13 episodes of the season will premiere all at once on Netflix in May, and each episode will follow a single character (a leaked list of episode titles reveals that Lucille gets one episode all to herself), with other characters from the Bluth clan occasionally popping up in each others’ episodes. Add that to the flashbacks we’re getting, and you have quite a unique structure (Jason Bateman has said that season four will be “extremely complicated for the viewers”).
Seth Rogen was announced as a guest star at the same time Wiig was—maybe he’ll play a young George Sr? Previously added as guest stars are John Slattery, Ben Schwartz, Chris Diamantopoulos, Conan O’Brien, Andy Richter, Isla Fisher, and Terry Crews.

Skip Churches Sunday Brunch
-
I kinda wanna not know who all is gonna pop up. Surprises, you know? It's tough though, because I also want to read every single article ever written about AD.
-
AD pak in May!?!
-
I think so, SwfitCat. Also, Adam Devine from Workaholics is in an episode.
-
skin ben, i DID finish the show, and I watched a few of my favorite episodes twice. It's great!
I can't wait to watch them all on netflix and talk about it on goEMAW.com.
-

Pretty sure all three of the workaholic guys guest star.

Skinbens, I am also super excited about this. Good things like this are so rare.
-
i think we need a gentleman's agreement that nobody posts spoilers in this thread until at least 3 workdays after they are released.
-
Yes. I am done with this thread from here on out until after I've seen them all. No spoilers until three days after. Actually I might just start a new clearly labeled AD spoilers thread three days later (as long as the nazi mods don't merge them).
-
You guys need to have this season watched by 5 pm Sunday so we can all talk about how awesome it was, k? ok

I'm in.

Also, I agree with the no-spoilers for a few days. :shakesfist:

Started a Season 4 discusso thread with spoilers for all you AD heads on this blog.
Link is here: www.ImOscar.com
LMAO JK, link is here: http://goEMAW.com/forum/index.php?topic=27775.0
And if you're curious on the parameters of the thread but don't wanna open the thread yet for fear of having something spoiled, here's what the first post in it says.
Hey dummies, I said expect spoilers in this here thread.
Now then. Get yourselves some ice cream sandwiches and start having a love affair with them and this new season of AD! :excited:
You'll probably wanna read and/or post in this thread only after you've seen every season 4 epi. The season supposedly has all episodes interchangeable so much so that you can watch them in any order. I mean do what you want, but I don't want something ruined that I haven't seen before, so I'll probably not read or even open this thread at all until I'm all the way through.
:bwpopcorn: <--Pop(')s Secret

Going to start watching the new season at approximately 9pm tonight!!!!! I haven't read the spoiler thread. How much will I love the new season?
-
i have watched the first 4 episodes and love it. lots of things to watch for in the background and listen for background things, too.
-
Through 10 so far, and love it
-
finished. watching the first episode again, and it's way funnier now after seeing all of them.
-
Favorite supporting character is Gene Parmesan.
Parmesan sucks compared to George's one-armed buddy.
