Jesus we should be pulling some legit 5-star RB tail with those stats.  Backups scoring TDs = RB University

He's a professional practice squad player. Must be nice to make 80 grand a year to practice football.

I really enjoy when they mention "Powell, that little known running back from Kansas State University".

Cardinals RB William Powell continued his strong preseason with 71 yards and a touchdown on seven carries against the Titans Thursday night.
The NFL's preseason rushing leader caught the eye of Rotoworld's Chris Wesseling last week, showing more burst than presumed third-stringer Alfonso Smith ever has at this level. Up to 231 yards at 7.0 per clip after a strong training camp, Powell is doing is best to push Smith off the roster -- even if his production has come primarily versus players that will be cut next week. He was a different kind of runner then DT, obviously.  Too bad he got hurt when he did.

i'm not at the point where i will agree that this is true, but i certainly had the same thoughts when they were here.

Why because Powell has had success against third stringers in the preseason, and Thomas did a poor job sharing the load with Reggie Bush?

Even a drunk six year old would know better.

I'm sure LHC Bill Snyder benched the better player because that would make sense.  Thank god the worst of the two was good enough to be a top 50 NFL pick

KC, are you being serious here? Thomas is twice the back. I love Powell and he does some great things, but GMAFB. I thought you were joking when you first brought it up.

Weird. I respect your opinion, but DT was the whole offense. I don't even want to think about how bad we would have been without DT and full time WP. I just think DT's size helped us a lot.

I wish Powell would've gotten more carries, fwiw.

I'd like to hear some analysis of why Powell was better than Thomas besides "I thought he was better". Both were good, but the combination of size and speed from Thomas was pretty special. Thomas ran high at times and was a bit fumble prone, but he was really, really good. You aren't 1st or 2nd team all league both years for nothing while averaging 5+ ypc. Powell certainly never showed a reason why he should get many more reps, let alone beat him out for the #1 spot.

There is a big difference in being the starting back that carries the offense and a change of pace back.

thomas was injury prone, he was banged up a lot and never seemed to be playing at full speed.  also, i felt that powell had better burst/acceleration and equally good vision.  because DT was 6'2"/230lb he was good at falling forward for extra yards, so he had that advantage.  in the end, i think powell would have ripped off more big plays and wasn't as injury prone. obviously, they were both good and much better than any back we have on the current roster.

Powell was faster, thats about as much as I'd give him.

But now you just got me thinking of Thomas on this team with Klein.  We could have games of 300 rushing yards and not one rush over 10 yards with those two.

Thomas was injury prone, but he still carried the ball like 30 times a game. Powell is the one that was injured and had to hang up the cleats and couldn't finish the year. FTR, I loved Powell.

Former K-Stater's who wore the jersey, lined up in the backfield, and are still on a current NFL Roster: Thomas, Powell, Brown, Cartwright, Sproles, Clayton, and Lamark Brown. #runningbackU
