Wow. Two major broadsides against the hull of #teambutthurt. Perhaps we're seeing a shift in board opinion here.

Did we lose again?

Up at the half. If it's like yesterday and the @kstategameday tweets stop in the 3rd quarter, that's not a good sign. :sdeek:

Senior Jordan Henriquez scored 13 points on 5-of-5 field goals, including a rare 3-pointer, as Kansas State posted a 59-46 win over Pindamonhangaba Club on Sunday morning.

with our GA reffing?
Hopefully the GA fouls everyone but 5 players foul out so Weber can sit JO and say "My team's on the floor".

:sadpeek:
kstate_gameday: The officials just called a 5th technical on #KStateMBB bench, resulting in the ejection of Coach Weber. 'Cats down 66-60 w/6:02 left in 4Q.

No, frank was an enormous pussy unless dealing with kids. He was terrified of adult officials. How many Ts did frank get in his ksu career? 3?

Weber was an awful hire. That doesn't make frank any less of a rough ridin' loser.

I'm surprised that a team with a new coach and offensive and defensive system lost a game against a professional team after they had ten practices.
 I needed that. Well done!
-
I'm glad oscar got ejected.
All of the players are wearing backpacks. Do you really think they want to lug around gym bags in addition?
Did Frank take the teams on trips abroad? I don't remember.
Good for the guys. Good for KSU.
eff Frank. eff oscar. eff Currie. But goddamnit, go KSU Cats!!!!
-
Frank planned the trip.
He was just getting ready to good cop em.
Never got the chance :(

Really? I hope they watch City of God while there! Great film.

So they were down by 6, Weber gets ejected, and they end up losing by 2? Weber's the team cancer. It is now documented.
-

Yep. This was a fantastic Jim Wooldridge moment, though. Nice for those memories to come back.

Didn't know if I should put this in the twitter thread or this one but...
@CoachLoweryKSU: Never been in a game where I was fearful that my players would get hurt.

Weber is such a hot head. An embarrassment to the University. Someone needs to make him calm down.

This is the start of a legendary career. I mean, who the eff gets ejected at an exhibition game?

I love the dumbasses who are like: "He's too nice, all he wants to do is eat chicken nuggets, #burnitdown, :blah:". And now they're like "What dumbass gets kicked out of a exhibition game?" JFC

Honestly, him getting kicked out of an exhibition game is BY FAR my favorite thing he has ever done in his coaching career. First time I have thought that he may give a crap

Honestly, him getting kicked out of an exhibition game is BY FAR my favorite thing he has ever done in his coaching career. First time I have thought that he may give a crap
Serious moment...
I think there is a part of him that really does want to do well here. I think he realizes that Illinois wasn't a good fit for him due to his, um, social disposition, and the last nine years were probably pretty miserable for him.
I think Weber loves coaching basketball, I don't think he's nearly as bad at it as a lot of people here think he is, and I think he'll do better than expected because he won't have the kind of media/booster/fan pressure he had at Illinois.
Granted, I don't think he'll set the world on fire, but I think he'll probably put something pretty similar to what Frank put on the floor.
End serious moment...

I don't think he doesn't try. I just think that the difference between winning and losing isn't significant enough to him.
Also catsdo, stupider is a word. Do you think Eisenhower was mistakenly corrected like this when he was fighting Nazis? Jesus.....

hate to bust your bubble but frank wasn't going to be going to elite 8s every 5 years either.

I hope he starts really strong because it sure looks like he eventually gave up at IL and with the amount of $$ he got to leave and is making now I can see him quitting on KSU and Manhattan pretty quick. I don't want to see him and his dopey looking family do some weird "I just got crap canned" presser in 2 years.

I think he gave up at Illinois because no one really does that well there, and they expect to be like UNC, Kansas, etc. Honestly, I've never really met fans from a school that had expectations that were so disproportionate with actual success (Sorry, Mr. Bread). I have worked with a number of UI fans, and they're pretty insufferable.
I believe he is actually pretty competitive, and he's pretty competent. I don't think he'll be a great recruiter because he's "ethical", but I don't think he'll recruit that much worse than Frank did, and if he does, he may actually get more out of that talent because the chances of them sticking around longer than two years is probably higher overall.
I think he's essentially going to try and replicate more of what he did at SIU here (with a relative upgrade in talent) in terms of what players he goes after and how he wants to play. There simply won't be the pressure to conform to what the boosters want because our boosters are just happy with beating KU every couple of years and going to the tournament. He can just be himself. I'm not expecting the peaks that he had at Illinois here, but I'm not quite expecting the valleys, either.

a couple of quick clarifying points and then i'm done, because this has been talked to death so much that even i'm sick of it...
oscar did not give up at illinois. he got fired because his basketball team was a combined six games under .500 in conference during his last six years as a coach there and missed the tournament three out of the last five years. that kind of record/performance over that long of a period in time, would get you fired from any school that cares about basketball. he's also the first basketball coach to ever be fired from illinois for performance reasons. ever. they've been playing basketball for 100 years at the university of illinois and he is the first. you're whole "the fans have unrealistic expectations" doesn't even come close to adding up. he's the only coach ever in the 100 year history of the school to be fired from coaching basketball and he was fired because he missed the tournament three out of the last five years and had a six game under .500 conference record over the last six years that he was allowed to coach there. no more. no less.

are you so mad that you essentially repeated your talking points twice in one paragraph, or was that meant as a joke. either way, it's funny, just wondering what's going on behind the scenes.

repeated twice on purpose. i also use a lot of periods when i shouldn't. also the whole capitalization thing.
-
figured it was on purpose but of all of us, you've taken the oscar thing the hardest. wasn't 100% sure you didn't lose it halfway through your paragraph and just start over.

yeah i took/am taking it pretty hard. illinois has always been the only other school that i actually cheer for. in highschool i had more illinois gear than ksu. way more. so i was pretty excited when illinois finally got rid of oscar and then kstate (my favorite school) immediately went out and hired him and i was all like omg you have just got to be kidding me. i just can't do this. i also went all in when they hired huggins and bought season tickets that year for the first time since i graduated, despite living an hour and a half away at the time, so i think that emotionally invests me a little more than if i just would've just been couch watching for the past six years. also being a townie4life makes a difference i think. people that didn't grow up in mhk can never care as much as those of us that did.

Getting rid of this fuckstick in two years is the best possible situation. IMO

I wasn't happy with the hire at all, and as I said, I think we could have done better. I understand why the hire was made (as we discussed before), and I think he'll do alright. "Alright" is a subjective term, so your interpretation and my interpretation could be different.
I guess after seeing what Frank Haith did last year, my perception on how success/failure transitions from one situation to another has probably changed. I'm willing to give oscar a chance, albeit a slim one, and I'll turn on him like a rabid dog when the time comes, but until then, I'll let him see what he can do.
Good insight on the Illinois thing. Makes a lot of sense as to why you'd feel this way.
-
Using Frank Haith as an example sort of bothers me because I still expect him to fail at Mizzou.

Adrian (Diaz) broke the backboard to the basketball goal and everyone went crazy.
Being a communications major at K-State made me realize how important non-verbal communication is. I never used my smile to signal so much until I was here.
Between the girls crushing on Angel, beast mode Diaz, and Shane's sunny smile, I think our adorablecats made some lifelong fans down in Brazil. So blessed.

He and it are impressive, no doubt. But look at how Angel is the center and star of that pic. When you start adding others, there's nowhere to go but downhill.
