Title: one of the best decisions i've ever made
Post by: chum1 on July 02, 2012, 08:08:20 AM
ignore politics and government.  following it is a huge waste of time.  i've been ignoring for a couple of years now and my life is way, way better because i've been focusing on things that actually have an impact on it instead.

I'm pretty sure a lot of people do.  Like, the place that does my oil changes always has fox news on the tv and they watch and talk about it the entire time I'm there waiting for my jeep to be done.  they seem to enjoy the crap out of it.

I think it is true when it comes to politics that "ignorance is bliss" for most people, but, unfortunately for business owners, it really isn't an option. The government can really eff with you and your livelihood.

they see you there and turn it on to fox and then talk politics. the second you leave and a mom with a four year old roll up, the tv goes to wow wow wubzy and they're all talking about phonics vs context support vs language experience approach. seems pretty obvious from where i'm sitting.

people who follow sports because they think it's important that they do so could probably focus on improving upon the quality of their lives as well.

The hell it isn't.  I am an owner and I ignore most of it.  and every year is better than the last.

Thanks!

what if they follow it because they enjoy it similar to people who follow politics because they enjoy it?

in that case, have fun!  but do people say they follow politics and government because they enjoy it or because they think it's important that they do so?  maybe they think it's important for them to follow and they're just wrong.

I have heard the government is going to set limits on hourly wages for lawyers so they are more accessible to the poor. Something like $23.00 per hour.

chum1 must not have many good decisions to choose from. I mean it's probably a good decision, but "one of the best"? I just don't know.

that's a pretty good point. i mean politics must have been really, really dragging him down for it to have been "one of the best".

I want back out. I take a stance on one issue and now I'm fighting with some of my friends. Like, actually fighting. Family too. I want my old I-don't-care-about-politics life back.

I don't discuss politics with my liberal friends and family members, I come here.

pretty much the same.  i work with only hardcore right people, and they all know i'm the opposite.  we just stay away from the subject.
