I'm an intern at this company and sometimes I literally don't have anything to do. I'd say about half the time. I'm expected 40 hours a week so it's not like I can go home (plus I need the $). Suggestions for big time wasting websites?
Here's the kicker: social, blogging, entertainment, etc. are mostly blocked. I can get on ESPN, this site, news sites, but there is only so many articles I can read.

welcome to my world friend. astounding efficiency measures have now made my actual work week about 45 minutes long.

this is a good idea

Also, any video I try to watch , like highlights on ESPN or embedded videos, and imbedded photos (like on all of you guys' posts) are blocked. rough ridin' sucks.
-
I pop those up on my phone when needed. another idea is to plan and implement your credit card points earning strategy and then start planning trips using said points.
-
Yeah. Start posting more, it will get you through the day. Also, this really helps me: Reading GQ, Twitter, Facebook, searching K-State articles, and texting filly's.

hmm
One day, after finding out that the guy who Goodfellas was based off of died, I spent approx. 3 hours researching mob things. I have gained a ridiculous amount of random knowledge.

Are your USB ports unlocked?

I have successfully planned a trip to Chicago in July and a Vegas trip in August.

I am convinced that 80% of office jobs require less that 20 hours of actual work per week if done by a reasonably competent and efficient person. BBS your ass off kstate16.

Yeah...

you could probably take that 20 hours down to 10 and still maintain your 80% figure.

I feel like this is pretty much every office job (unless you're a data entry/worker ant person). I think it's kind of funny, my soon to be career is bout making things more efficient. Yet, half the time I have my thumb up my ass.

Well it would be pretty hypocritical for you to fire him for BBSing at work, but I would definitely give him half of your work so that you can BBS more.
-
I could (and do) work 60 hours a week and not have a minute to slack :shakesfist:

kstate16 if you're reading this at work and you're my intern I won't fire you, I won't even tell anyone else, it's just always good to know if you have another goemawer on your side, (check pm 16)

On the topic of doing nothing at work, what's the best way to bbs on your phone at work. I usually lean it up against my keyboard, but then my neck hurts from looking so far down, suggestions?

Have this already, but I want to portray that I'm doing twice the work by having 2 spreadsheets open, plus I don't want to get flagged for being on the interwebs all day

flagged for being on the interwebs all day
is this a real thing? saul?
-
Most work programs use the web to update information. I doubt any bbsing you do would make enough of a difference to be a red flag.

saul, how do I make it so that when I have an excel sheet open and pop another one up it won't always open over the top of the first one unless I launch another blank excel session first?

I'm in the same boat kstate16. Internship where my soon to be career is about making thing and people more efficient yet I could probably waste half my week and still get the same amount of productive work done. But I can almost always find something to be working on. They gave me a filler project to work on when I'm not working on other more important projects.

If you are in Excel and want to open a new file without it over the top of the first one, hit "ctrl+o" > find the file you want to open > right click > open. This will open it in a new session of Excel.
-
thehamburglar, that sounds hard.

Not Saul, and not really sure what you are asking, but I do have some advice. I always dual screen with separate sessions.
If you are in Excel and are opening an existing workbook hit "ctrl+o" > find the file you want to open > right click > open. This will open it in a new session of Excel that you can easily drag and maximize on your 2nd screen.
If you are trying to open it from your desktop, the above doesn't work when you hover over the icon and right click > open. That will just open it over your original spreadsheet in the same Excel session. In this case it's faster to "ctrl+o" in excel > hit desktop in the selection box > right click > open.
In every scenario I can think of its just faster to click in your original excel session and "ctrl+o" > right click > open to open a file in a new session.
The only pain in the ass with doing this in 2 sessions is that it's a bitch to do a vlookup across sessions. However, copying what you want to vlookup from and pasting in a new tab in the original workbook is 10 times easier than running 1 session, stretching it across 2 screens, and trying to resize 2 workbooks within that 1 session ob each screen.
I've been having this problem all summer. It really pissed me off when I got to start > Programs > Micorsoft Office and excell and word are no where to be found so I can't even launch a new blank excel sheet without opening a flie that already exists.

Take what you have outside, set it on fire, ask for a new machine.

Get FlipBoard on your phone then add a bunch of boards to it. Go nuts. Your welcome.
