1. rebounding was bad, I think we were tired.
2. They didn't guard Sutton or Samuels on the perimeter AT ALL.
3. The FT differential was a complete joke. I hate this but it really was.
4. really shitty showing from ksu fans at the game.

This took all the EMAW out of me. Anyone who was there, what were we 10%? 20%? Looked awful. If we are there again next year I'll frackin buy a seat for $250 so at least one EMAW will bring some anger.
-
maybe 10%

b
maybe 10%
i think at least 10%. maybe 20. i couldn't really tell where i was sitting about a 1/3 of the way up in the lower deck behind the basket. did you have a good view of the whole arena.
i pak'd way too hard last nigiht and felt like ass all day. couldn't make much noise w/o terrible pain in my throat.
-
maybe 10%
Sucks. Freakin' sqwauks bought all the tics before the season
-
maybe 10%
Dude, it was more like 30%. It seemed more lopsided because were were down 4-8 the whole freaking game.
Oh, and if you're shocked that there are more KU fans in the KC area than K-Staters, you haven't been paying attention. We will never come close to matching KU's fan support in this area. Ever.

not shocked there were more. shocked we didn't show better.
-
tickets were bought up when ku knew they had the best team in the nation and ksu was still uncertain what kind of tourney team they were.
also wouldn't have mattered if it was 50-50, cats never gave us a chance to stand up and cheer for anything.
also this thread is very powertardy.
-
shazbot! you
were you there?
-
I was there and I'd say it was about 30% non ku fans (meaning ksu fans and other people who don't care). I thought the EMAW's were loud for how many where there when we were leading in the first half. If we were winning in the second half like ku was I feel our presence would have been more known.
It kind of reminded me of the attendance at the 2003 Dr. Pepper game...ou fans knew in August they would be there and ksu fans knew a week before. Same sort of thing.
-
1. KU knew before the season started they would be playing in this game, so they bought all the tickets
2. KU has a bit of a tradition in basketball
3. Lawrence is 40 miles from KCMO
4. KU has a law and medical school, professions which have survived the economic downturn pretty well
5. The KC area has about 4:1 KU fans vs. K-State fans, or more
-
you failed to document 0-9 to start the 1st half and 0-6 to start the 2nd half. I thought fan support was great. It was loud when the Cats closed the lead to three (twice or three times). Would have been louder had they grabbed the lead at any point. Have to hope for one more shot @ them.
-
A big issue regarding attendance was uofk playing the 1st game Friday and having more fans to buy from aTm fans. There were hardly any Baylor fans to buy from and uofk fans and KSU fans were both trying to buy from them.
-
Retards need to stop bitching about attendance, especially those that didn't go. We had at least 30% there for the final game and we were well represented throughout the tournament. Props to anybody that actually dropped the bills to support the team.
So here's the newsflash. We're not going to outnumber the ku bandwagon f*cks when it comes to a game at the Sprint Center. We're not. If we start winning these goddamn games on a more consistent basis, the representation will get better though.

I'd say a bit higher than 30%. Cats crappy start to both halves took fans out along with the realization that we were battling some pretty stacked odds out there.
-
KC Catbackers are WEAK IMHO.
-
If you wanted tickets for the entire session you should have been there after Mizzou faceplant. HUNDREDS of tickets for all sessions for face value.
After KSU and KU kept winning eventually ticket prices skyrocketed.

I really don't know who in their right mind would really think this. I think this is the one team in the entire field I want no part of. I feel pretty good about our chances against every single other team in the entire nation. But they've got one of the best collections of talent assembled in the last 20 years, and the sooner our fan base realizes this fact and quits trying to measure our team against ours, the better off they'll be.
:powerespect:
I hope they get upset by some random team shooting 60 percent in Round 2 or 3.

It was bad, at most 20%. But probably more like 10%.

This.
If they had lost to aTm there would have been vastly more KSU fans than aTM....and they would have paid nickles on the dollar for their seats.
Those tix the KU fans were sitting in were purchased before the first ball bounced on Thursday.

We make fun of ku fans' belief that their second 5 could win this conference, and for good reason. Anyone who thinks that a guy coming in off the bench to score 15 would necessarily do the same if depended upon night in and night off doesn't know basketball very well.
The fact of the matter is, however, that ku is one of the deepest teams I've seen in quite a while. They have 4 or 5 guys on their bench that can come in and chances are, on any given night, at least one of them will be able to contribute 15 points. These guys do a nice job of scoring when they get the opportunity thanks to the attention that guys like Aldrich, Collins, and even Marcus Morris get now.
We don't have that kind of depth, and that's made ku a poor matchup for us this year, on top of the usual disadvantage due to officiating.
KU's best opportunity to lose before the Final Four will probably be in the Sweet Sixteen. We saw KU play kind of casually in the first couple of games in the Big 12. Sweet Sixteen may be far enough from the Final Four that some of KU's players don't get up for it quite as much, but far enough along that the team they play has sufficient talent to really push KU.
We'll see how these KU bench players perform next year when they're depended on for scoring night in and night out and are focused upon by the opposing defense.

And it's really got nothing to do with trying to "measure our team against ours ". Not really sure where you got that idea. Everybody would love to see them knocked off early. I think they roll through whatever bracket they get. To meet UK in that scenario, with everything on the line would be a dream.
And I would love that.

tyrel reed almost out shot us from the FT line.

What an embarassing thread.

pretty sure this why frank was yelling at Jake. He was running the right set to get them the ball near the end of the game.

Four or five is an overstatement. They have three key reserves, Morningstar, Reed and the lesser Morris. I can't think of anyone else making a significant contribution, unless it's Robinson contributing to the amusement of Cat fans, much less score in double figures. They mainly play an eight-man rotation although Robinson has been getting some unproductive minutes lately.
They've had some odd circumstances the past five years that allowed them to keep high school all-american recruits around longer than other schools. It's really what has separated them from the rest of the Big 12 and nationally. Florida and North Carolina benefited from the same thing, until everyone left.

the odd circumstance is bill self
-
It's Rush's knee injury and the parent employment scam they have going (and the fact that Collins isn't really NBA talent).

Good point. I overestimated because I'm not used to watching a team that has 5 starters who can each score 15 points themselves any given night.
-
People need to understand that the white trash bandwagon contingent for ku basketball fans is enormously large. If you've ever been to one of these ku games, you'll know it's like stepping into the world's largest trailer park.
We're just outnumbered in this department. They're basically the equivalent of OU football fan. It is what it is.
We'll continue to make a dent but the sheer numbers will be tough to top.

yeah. Colon and Sutton provide nothing against good competition. sutton can produce against inferior talent but against top 10ish teams it's basically 3 on 5 when colon and sutton are in the game.

I've lived here my whole life, and we fight with mizzou for 2nd place in the kc area. I am never shocked by the amount of bandwagon KU douchebags that go to jccc or umkc.
-
Baylor is a top-10 type team, or at least as close as we came to playing one other than KU.
One thing that separated KU from us was the outside shooting ability of there subs. I don't think McGruder or Irving has hit a three since January.
-
gruds played like crap
