Title: Legal Types - Goat question
Post by: DQ12 on June 05, 2012, 08:26:58 PM
Our landlord hasn't mowed our lawn in 5 or 6 weeks.  It's getting pretty long.  To combat this yard issue, the roommates and I are considering getting a goat and keeping it in our front yard and having it eat the grass and beer cans and any other unsightly attributes of our little house.

We can get this "kid" (goat jargon) for 25 bones: http://ksu.craigslist.org/grd/3015169076.html

QUESTIONS:
Are there any zoning issues here?
Does anybody have any tips for raising it?
If three are zoning issues, are there any other zone-friendly (reasonably priced) animals that can accomplish this???

I understand. You won't be living in this house forever though. So feed it a ton of grass and cash out when you're ready. win/win

it's completely illegal.  the laws in this country regarding animals are ridiculous and immoral.  try to fight for good.

If our neighbors can have chickens and a rough ridin' rooster, i'm sure you can have a goat.

being a baby aside, goats don't really like grass.  they'll eat it if there's nothing else, but they are natural browsers.

Back in '05 there was a party on Halstead maybe, and the people that lived there had a goat.  Although I barely know you, I think I can safely assume you are more equipped than they were to handle the animal

This thread is about the legality of our friend Dlew getting a goat and possibly solving his lawn growth problem. Let's not lose focus.

I think it's legal, but if your landlord has a "no pets" policy, he could fine or evict you for having the goat. I would just tell your landlord that you won't be paying rent until he gets off his ass and mows the lawn as he is contractually obligated to do.

If you don't name the goat, and he just hangs out eating the grass he isn't technically a "pet" under the legal definition.

Think positively.  At some point, one of those clever phog people will do a photoshop w/a goat and weird robert hanging in dlew's house's lawn which for some reason is situated next to BSFS.  Then, Beems will see it.  Boom, return of Beems to goEMAW.

Hello.  I have two goats that keep getting loose from the pen that have unfortunatley become more of a nuscence then they're worth in smooth, delicious milk. They should fit the description of what your looking for, as they would make terrible pets.  They are as ugly as a nebraska winter, if you know what I mean. LOL.  If your interested in my goats, feel free to email me back or you can call me.  I don't have a cell phone, but my home phone is REMOVED.  I'll be making my way to junction city on thursday, so let me know if you want me goats.

If the goat thing doesn't work out, you could always spray your yard with some round up.  Then you wouldn't need to "mow" it as often.

I bet your landlord would actually be relieved and knock some off next month's rent or something.
