Thought about it and then thought...

Why in the hell would I pay admission for the right to buy BBQ that I will likely never get to eat again even if I did like it?  So I decided to go to Julius Ribcage on South Seneca and have the best ribs I have ever had.

I went last night.  Mrs tdaver already had riverfest buttons, so we got in free.  Food wasn't any better (and some was worse) than local bbq joints.

I've never been to Julius Ribcage... may have to give it a try.

If you're ever in Hutch for some god forsaken reason, try Roys.

I've been taking classes in Hutch for the last two years.  I made thursday bbq day and rotated between Hog Wild, Danny Boy's and Roy's.  Roy's had the best meat by far.

My thoughts exactly. No Julius for me though. I am smoking a meatloaf instead. :lick:

Bite Me BBQ, formerly halfway to Colorado out on Kellogg is now downtown/old town and looks nice.  I only got a quick sandwich in there but it looked like it could be good to pak at.  Full bar.

I imagine ribfest would be a good place to WT-watch.

Yes.  Much more carny-like than I expected, but maybe I should have known better.

I don't think I got to it in the Wichita is a Top 10 cheap city thread, but events like this do a nice job of letting us know where the unwashed masses will be and can be avoided.

Julius is absolutely amazing.  They have a gigantic smoker outside in the parking lot.  If you're driving by when they have that thing going you can't drive by without stopping.  People in Wichita that eat Hog Wild instead of Julius' should be slapped.  Their spicy BBQ sauce is intolerable.  I used to get spicy mixed with mild, can't even do that anymore.

Whenever I go through Wichita I always stop at Taco Grande.  On my way to Taco Grande I always pass by there I think to myself "I need to stop and try that sometime" but I never do.

The gas station in Schulte @ K-42 & MacArthur has smoked ribs on thursdays and fridays all summer.  They are very good.  My dad and I used to grab a 40oz. and a rack of ribs on the way home from Mid Continent.
