Title: I guess this is irrelevant now, but whatevs
Post by: Emo EMAW on April 19, 2012, 03:25:30 AM
Remember before last season how Frank was so effing positive about the team?  I recall that someone was "shooting the cover off the ball."  Don't recall if that was JJ or Omari.  Either way, neither got much PT.  Also, what the eff happened to Nino?  Remember when we were having that rough stretch and he came in and gave us a couple solid games?

(Also I realize this thread is pretty butthurt, as Frank is gone and bla bla bla, but I just feel like we were sold a bill of goods on last season and it didn't really live up to expectations.  Yes, Gruds was great and JO was really fun to watch.  But overall a pretty meh season based on what was plausible and realistic.)

that's a pretty rough ridin' stupid post. Every coach says positive things about his team every rough ridin' year.

The team exceeded expectations last season.

Most realistically projected us as an NCAA bubble team sans Pullen & Kelly.  We exceeded expectations, IMO.  Also helped that the BigXII, as a whole, was relatively down.

Regarding Nino, he's a 6-5 PF.  That's what happened to him.  His PT against KU in AFH was pretty much Frank's way of telling his staff and players to go eff themselves.  In my humble opinion.

So since he was a 6-5 freshman power forward, we thought it would be a good idea for him to not dress out for most of the conference season?  That sure is an interesting theory.

Nino was probably injured.  With Frank, you never really knew the whole story.  But, I'll assume he was actually hurt.

Injuries aside, if you want to know whether a healthy Nino is going to contribute, just look at his height and skill set for your answer.  A 6-5 PF who can't play on the wing and is too small to play inside is never going to be productive.

Just my two cents.
