Title: Feels Good
Post by: LickNeckey on April 11, 2012, 08:14:32 PM
Petros just said the Bill was the loudest place he had ever been.  This came up during a discussion of how loud Autzen was.

Did he say a specific game or in general week-to-week?

In general I guess?

Petros said it was the loudest place he had ever been.   :gocho:

He didn't mention game or opponent.  One could assume it was USC but he did some FSN stuff back in the day so it's hard to tell.

Just realized you were talking about Petros, not Soren.  It would have had to be the 2002 USC game.  Carroll said the same thing after the game.

That was a very proud moment for all EMAW.

For 50,000 people it gets pretty damn loud. Isn't Autzen around that number too?

Yeah.  took a limo from KC.  Got increds paked.  My heckling of USC fans that day is probably my zenith of a sustained, game long anger heckle.  My rage and inappropirateness was at a fever pitch for the whole day.

Compare to 2000 OU blocked punt for TD. I was at both and I'm leaning toward OU - I couldn't hear myself talk... increds fo sho

Don't know about the football games, but after watching bball games at the octagon of doom on tv i'd have to say that place looked absolutely insane.

Autzen is a little bigger (58K) but it was also built with acoustics and maximizing crowd noise as a construction/engineering priority

At UofO those bitches engineer their stadium for loud.  At KSU we just engineer our people.  Old school at the Bill.

This actually couldn't be further from the truth.  Autzen stadium was built before Oregon had any substantial success in football.  They cut all kinds of corners and built it as cheaply as possible.  They didn't find out that it was an insanely loud stadium until many years later when they started winning games and people started showing up and getting rowdy.  They did a stadium renovation in the early 2000s, but that was just for aesthetics like widening concourses, adding suites, etc.

A PAc 10 school will never be as loud as a Big 12.
