what a complete lush. and a big eff you to kansans everywhere taking to the roads while completely hammered. i'm sure Charlie "Big Pun" Weiss will take a blind eye on this one and look the other way. what a total joke of a program they have over to the east. embarrassing.
the kid is only 20 and already his life is spiraling out of control. i'm sure the AD probably hooked him up with the booze too.

-
rough ridin' monster.
-
I really want to TSC, but the embarrassment of a football program in Lawrence is making it difficult. I mean I could put up with their 2-10 record if the team was made up of upstanding citizens that could make all Kansans proud, but this is just disgusting.
-
disgusting. what a perfect descriptor, thx, scary smart.
-
i just threw up in my mouth a little bit
-
We all know Charlie wants to beat K-State at all costs. Let this serve as a litmus test for how serious he is about doing so. We are about to learn a lot about the Charlie era of Kansas athletics.
-
What makes me most depressed is thinking about all the children who were probably riding in cars on the very same roads that he was Ndomukong Suh-ing his way through. I mean it's just terrifying. My daughter is only 14 and has a few years to go yet but the idea that she will be driving soon just terrifies me when I know there are these monsters out there on our roads and highways being so thoughtless.
-
this kind of bull-honky didn't go on when turner gill was the coach.
-
I used to be able to blow this stuff off, but now that I have a daughter, it terrifies me. Hope weis sends him back to texas.
-
Oh God, I knew this would eventually happen. Front Butt is creating a monster over there. MCMW :ohno:
-
what is it about ku/lawrence that makes these kids want to get black out drunk and use their cars like death darts? i'm sick.
-

probably the daily abuse they take from racist townies/students/alumni
-
Are those that drink & maim better then those that shake and bake? :horrorsurprise:
-
Kansas University
:dubious:
-
What a incredible opportunity for Weiss to restore order to the KU athletic program that has tolerated this disgusting behavior for a few years now. Charlie can make small step towards healing and throw this kid off the team.
-
Umm guys, I was on the roads the same night as he was while he was driving around with his loaded shotgun of a car. :sdeek:
-
So he broke the law to get loaded/smashed than he broke the law to drive all over?
He has to be addicted to break that many laws in search of a buzz.
-
Not really. The societal pressure in Lawrence, KS for all kids to drink is far too much for some to overcome. When it's all said and done, Sims may turn out to be one of the lucky ones. If he can find a way out of town, to a place where it's not so commonplace to put a bottle of gin into a newborn baby's waiting hands, he may just be able to cure his addiction and some how patch his life back together again.
-
So when are we expecting Currie to step in and suspend Sims for the rest of his college career? That way he can put on his resume not only did he run a squeaky clean program but also an entire state.
-
Have some pride for yourself, maybe the university, and maybe the state of Kansas. I curse you James Sims. :curse:
-
What a weekend for youngsters. First, Amanda Bynes, now this. :blindfold:
-
Thread title made me think of Fatty. :frown:
-
The increased need for self medication in Lawrence is a scary trend. Someone should look into it. Maybe if Bill Self cared enough about the university to do the Don't Drink and Drive spot that Frank did and play it before the BB games. Maybe, just maybe doing so would keep a kid from taking such a scary path in life.
I just hope the poor guy isn't hooked already.
They just need a good role model that has their best interests at heart.
Gill would never have allowed this.
-
skipped through thread, beems didn't post.

Rumblings that Sims is super addicted already. T&P.

Too bad Front Butt didn't bring in a transfer RB to drive the bus. He'll make the drunken bastard sit a while during non-con, then after he has learned his lesson he'll start just in time for conference play. :tsc:

UPdate-
well folks, the charlie weiss era of looking the other way has begun. looks like the miscreant was given a very lenient 3 game suspension. not too bad for a night of illegal drinking and then illegal driving, he should have been charged with attempted murder (1 count for every person on the road that evening).
not that i would expect doug compton to ever allow that to happen. i'm sure he just sent a sizable check to Big Pun with a very clear message jotted onto the "Note" section of the check on the bottom left of it. i'm sure the message was something to the tune of "Sims will play against N Illinois".
regardless, don't think i won't be sending brownback a note this afternoon urging him to step in and get involved with this case. texans should not be allowed to disregard the lives of kansans and be given, given, a 3 "game" suspension.
-
Sends a very clear message.
Weiss to ku football players: Party down, boys. I'll bury the bodies.

weiss probably doesn't care at all. rumor has it that he drives his rascal around lawrentucky with a mimosa bar loaded in the front basket.
-
Obviously, Chuck is going to do this right.

I couldn't agree more. This 3 game "suspension" just allows Jim "Town Drunk" Sims to rest during the garbage games he would rather not play anyway. He's not even going to have to pay back 3 months' worth of his scholarship. He is getting a paid vacation for endangering lives.

Guys, you know what three sat's of not playing gives a guy like "Town Drunk"? more drinking and driving on Friday nights.
Honestly, I see what Chuck was trying to do, but I think he just made Fridays in Lawrence less safe.
Really hoping that nothing bad happens on one of those three Friday nights. I mean, Chuck would basically be equally responsible for whatevs happens since he is enabling TownDrunk with all this extra drinking time.

The real danger is Saturday night. Town Drunk will just be sipping on hard liquor during his teammates' games (Oh, who are we kidding? He will be slamming down the hard liquor by the gallon) and then he will go drive all over town immediately following.
-
Guys, what if he demands to drive the team bus to this year's game in Manhattan?
I dislike KU but in no way do I want to see them all die, let alone all the innocent, hard-working Kansans who will be sharing the road at the time.
:ohno:

I don't think Weis is that stupid, but I am worried that ol' whiskey breath Jim might sit close enough to the driver to pass him his flask. What if the driver allows himself to get peer pressured into drinking it?

KU's team bus will be the only one in the NCAA with an interlock device?
-
Guys, Chuck isn't stupid. I mean, sure he will willingly endanger all of Lawrence by enabling Town Drunk to do more drinking and driving, but he won't endanger his team.
-
Is liquor lovin Simms going to play in the spring game? Or will he be too wasted/hung over?

Hopefully Kale Pick spits his chew in Sims' vodka-spiked gatorade. Then maybe Sims will stop drinking long enough to play some football.

By selling meth to your stripper mom?

i don't see the point of going after bmw on tuesday afternoons in threads about misdemeanor offenses. he was making an honest contribution.

Another KU meth dealer. :thumbs::lol:
-
Anyone surprised beems is defending a dangerous criminal just because he is a ku "player"?
Im not.
Remember that time he was happy the 17yr old emaw died from cancer? Pretty much a disgusting human being.
-
So is "12 Step" Simms practicing with the team?
-
So is "12 Step" Simms practicing with the team?
I'm sure he is. Weis will want him to know the offense. He's a scumbag who will put his own personal gain over the good of his players. Now all the good kids on his team are going to be influenced by the actions of Jim Beam Sims.
-
I bet he gets tanked up on budweiser and marlboros and runs into the offense line and kills three of them wounding a fourth.

I bet when they bring out the gator to drive the fourth off the field, he shoves the driver out of the vehicle and then crashes it into a wall, killing the fourth as well.
-
Thoughts and prayers to those four.

I agree. It's the innocent who always die. People like "Drunk on Jim" Sims always walk away unscathed.
-
i've written a letter to the ncaa asking them to install a breathalyzer into his mouthpiece
this can all be avoided
