On 810 this morning basically confirmed everything we fear most about Weber...but supports the hire. Said that oscar Weber is a "super, super, quality human being" and "will be a very good long term hire." He then talked about all the success he had the first few years at Illinois. Amazingly, he made the comment not 3 minutes later that the jury is still out on Frank Haith because those aren't his players. :facepalm: :angry: :curse:

I have a suggestion for you. To expose weber as the negative loser that he is ... ask him to state his goals for the program the next 5 years. If his goal is not to win the conference you have ammunition to shove up his loser ass whenever some idiot like gene keady claims he's a top 5 coach in the country. If you are not playing to be the best what are you playing for?
Im not saying that is necessarily a realistic goal... but it should be what everyone is working for. If you don't try to beat the ku's of the world you can be sure you never will.
I'll never forgive weber for telling our runner up team he didn't think they could win it all before the season. To do great things you need to inspire your players. More than anything else this is why oscar weber is a loser. He convinces himself and his teams they cant do things so why try.

You've taken this pretty far out of context. He went on for a long time talking about his shortcomings at Ill. It seemed to me that Harlan was trying extra hard not to say something too negative. He isn't a newspaper guy, he isn't a guy who makes his money on opinions, so he isn't going to around burning bridges.
He basically agreed with everything we've been saying around here from a logical standpoint without all the anger. He literally in 1 or 2 sentences called Weber a "really solid good guy to hire for the haul."

Harlan's not Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!), I just think he was trying to say something nice about this hire instead of trashing it. He also used the word "solid" more than once, so combined with that other quote he basically confirmed Weber being a SLTH without even having knowledge of that term.

In 1989 LHC Bill Snyder took over the KSU football program and when asked of his goals for what was, then, the worst D-I football program in the nation he said, "To be competitive and to compete for a conference championship every three or four years." He's won exactly one conference championship and the stadium is named after him.
On the hoops side the athletic department nutted up & hired Bob Huggins to distract from the mediocrity of the football program. Asked about his goals Huggins replied, "Why settle for second when first is available?" The 'tucks when apeshit. Huggins was declared trash, unworthy of coaching at KSU and roundly denounced by the proper KSU fans as an arrogant bad person. Naturally he couldn't get out of town quickly enough.
Being a KSU fan is uncomfortably like being the abused spouse in an unhealthy codependent marriage. Nothing good will happen here and if, by accident, it does it will be quickly crushed.

It's like out fan base is comprised of 99% budding university presidents who care about image and 1% sports fans who care more about winning than image.

What are you talking about?
1. LHC Bill Snyder took arguably the worst football program in the country and turned it into a legitimate national power. Posting six 11 win seasons winning a league title, numerous Division Titles, and being a bounce of the ball away from a National Title appearance. To suggest naming a stadium after him is an acceptance of mediocrity is either naive or stupid.
2. Nobody went apeshit when he said that. I sat in Bramlage the day he was hired with about 800-900 people many of whom you would consider tucks. I guarantee that everyone who left that presser was energized and excited about what was happening. Huggins was accepted and loved until he went back to his alma mater. To say otherwise is either naive or stupid.
In conclusion you are either naive or stupid. I'd guess stupid.
