March 1988 Midwest Regional Finals at Silverdome

This is worse than 98 ihmo

98 is the worst, but this is 2nd.

what a squawk, are you apart of the squawkhili tribe?
-
98 is the worst, but this is 2nd.
KU squeaking into the NCAA title game is a giant wad of salt in this massive wound. Sonofabitch.
-
I won a absolute obscene amount of money otherwise today would be up there.

Normally that might bother me more, but it's tough to begrudge KU when we're driving our own program off a rough ridin' cliff.

2&3 def. need switched. 98 sucked, but at least there was hope for future ksu success at the time. This is the literal death of KSU hoops., not because we hired a crap coach, but because we did it on purpose, so this almost gets a tie for 1.
-
I'd put Frank leaving this week as #5, otherwise a pretty spot-on list. I wasn't alive at the time, but I've gotta think losing the NCAA champy game to Kentucky all those years ago was pretty tough too. :dunno:
-
Pasco Fiasco was pretty embarrassing, but the actual game was not of great consequence since we were not going to the tournament that year anyway.

This is exactly how I feel. Normally I really hope they lose, but I honestly didn't care at all and flipped channels throughout the game.
Thanks John

Which is the worst part - your hated rivals going to the NC Game or hiring a has-been or more appropriately, a "never was"?
-
1998 made today look like an f'ing picnic.
Nothing was worse than that day. We lost a national championship shot in f'ing football. FOOTBALL. Basketball is a joke compared to what happened that terrible terrible day.
-
I won a absolute obscene amount of money otherwise today would be up there.
'grats. I wouldn't have touched this game with a ten foot pole. I am literally seething right now. The entire day has been a rough ridin' waste.
-

The hire, and it's not even rough ridin' close. I'd gift KU the next 5 NCAA titles if Currie and Weber would drive off a cliff.

Watching UNC checkout after wrecking ku for the first half gave me an inkling. KU has a great comeback team and opposing teams loaded with NBA talent DGAF. If the line against Kentucky is +5 or more, it should cover.

The circumstances surrounding 98 were unique. Never again will we have the best team in the nation, have everything fall into place for us, and be 2 scores ahead in the 4th quarter of the game that would take us to a national title....and then see it all come crashing the eff down in a matter of 30 minutes. Devastating, because you knew it would probably never happen again.
This is rough ridin' bad, because this is also unique in that we will probably never have everything in place to make a tremendous hire: excess funds, solid team, new facility, "waters calmed" in football, run of NCAA appearances to parlay in recruiting, etc...and we take it right in the ass from our own AD. That said, we aren't falling quite so far, and it's easier to get back to finishing in the upper-3rd of the conference after we fire Weber than being in position to win a NC in football.

Excellent analysis. This is easily the second-worst day of my entire EMAW life.

I see you are comparing two unlikelihoods, but still pfft.

Barry is juicing because that post just landed past the Ted William seat.

Me too, and I know this is unreasonable

"It's Patterson!"
(Remember when there was discussion about 16-team leagues and there was a rumor of OU, OSU, KU, and KSU being added to the PAC-12 and somebody goes "It's PACerson!"

But when you combine the two its pretty rough ridin' awful. There is very, very little reason to be optimistic as a Cat hoops fan right now
K-State basketball is more important to me than football
This is ridiculous

One thing wrong with your excellent anaylsis, by the time we become relevant again I'll be eating only soft food and shitting in a diaper

Today may make it to the top 5 but we will wait and see how bad things get and how quickly. An all-time top 5 bad list for K-State fans is a pretty high bar to reach.
-
I will give us this....no group of fans has been repeatedly kicked in the nuts as often as K-State fans, yet keeps coming back for more. That means two things: we're loyal to a fault, and we're rough ridin' morons.
-
You can't look at these things in hindsight. You have to take them as they effected you in real time. 98 sucked, but this was worse imo. In 98 we lost a game, and a shot at the title, it was so bad that I really don't remember any of the game except their last td, it is literally blocked from my memory. I was in a bad mood for weeks afterward.
But today was worse on so many levels. First we lost a coach that so many of us love earlier in the week. Then as we built up hope -- false or real it doesn't matter -- for something good to happen our own University, the guys in charge of the athletics at our rough ridin' University stuck a rough ridin' knife in all of our guts and just rough ridin' stood there grinning and telling us that it was a good thing as they tore that blade up into our chest cavity and watched us bleed to death.
I'm literally heartbroken right now. It doesn't even seem real, think of how much fun @MU and @BU were and it is gone. It is rough ridin' gone.
Weber is most likely going to be a huge failure here, or worse horridly mediocre, that isn't even the beef. The beef is rough ridin' John Currie murdering out basketball program while being a snide, condescending [redacted] to our whole fanbase the whole time. When he said that he doesn't care what other people think I about lost it.
It's rough ridin' over.
I almost hope all of our players quit and have success elsewhere. I hope Brad and DK bail on first opportunity. oscar can field a team with his own guys so I don't have to feel bad for being apathetic towards a team of players I have grown extremely fond of.
It is over.

Agreed, but it all depends on how you define "days". 24 hour increments, 98 was the worst by far. "Days" as in periods of time, like "the days of decline", then, yeah, this is the rough ridin' worst. At least after 98 we still had a solid program. These are the days of crap for KSU basketball. We just ensured - YES, rough ridin' ENSURED - that our program is going to circle the drain until FIRST Currie, and THEN Weber are sent the eff down the road.
KSU Basketball - Circling the Drain Since March 31, 2012
Put that on a rough ridin' t-shirt, with a picture or our fuckstick AD.
And you "just give him a chance" retards deserve everything you get. That is horrible rough ridin' logic. Clearly none of you have ever been in a position of authority, and if you have been, you're rough ridin' failures.

We will miss Missouri very much. I could always point to them when our University laid an egg in one form or another and feel better because they were complete eff ups. No longer. I'm a loser and will now have a post-it note on my back that reads 'kick me' when ever I go out in public.

The ONLY thing we can do to end this mentality at this point is take every measure possible to get Currie fired. It's not going to be easy, and it's a long term process, but it can happen. There are plenty of fucks at K-State, obviously some one this board, that will continue to take it in the ass and smile and ask for more, but I'm rough ridin' done with it. I hope you're with me, because it is going to take numbers, and we're going to have to recruit.

Somebody who has an in with the KC Mafia needs to go Michael Corleone on this situation and hit Weber, Currie, Schultz and Frank, before we lose everything and everyone we've built the last 6 seasons.
