TITLETOWN - A Decade Long Celebration Of The Greatest Achievement In College Athletics History => Kansas State Basketball is hard => Topic started by: Pete on March 31, 2012, 05:33:32 PM

I hope Brad has worlds of success. He's a great coach, and knows that he's worth much more than being a lacky to a proven loser like oscar Weber.
-
Official?
-
Best thing, really. He'll learn from the best coach in basketball. Could work out great for us in about 2-3 years.
TAKE NOTES, UNDY!!
-
Pete
It is stressful enough right now, stop posting stupid headlines without a link or any facts. It's annoying.
-
Some seem to think he is going to be associate head coach at ku. Not joking.
-
I have a hard time believing Self has had time to even consider filling that spot yet.
-

Would I love this? yes, I would.
Will it ever happen? NFW
-
If this does turn out to be true I just may end it all. We not only hire a guy who just got fired from a boring basketball conference for being too Doc Sadlerish we may just lose our best coach to the Hawks????? FML...
-
I hope it's true. Brad deserves good things.
-
No doubt it would be good for Underwood but talk about a KITN...
-
Run like the wind, Brad. I think this is a good time to commend oscar Weber for NOT TALKING TO POTENTIAL assistants while Gottlieb pretty much had a staff wrapped up.
To repeat, the radio host had a staff ready to go, and the guy that just got fired, "um uhhhh would uh like to have K-State ties" on the staff.

Yeah, that kind of preparation might have had something to do with why he's such a shitty coach.

It's like we hired Kenny Powers.

My god... if only.

I actually was kind of hoping for Underwood to take over at K-State, but kept it to myself so as to not come off as all tuck-ish. welp........ Wish him the best though.
-
Don't blame him. He follows Frank he can claim to be the guy that runs the offense. Stays under Weber and he's a guy that just hangs around Manhattan. Easier to land a head gig as Martin's go-to guy.

Have you heard if he's definitely following Frank? We sure hope so at USC.
-
Word from Curtis kitchen is undy is leaning towards outie.
-
Good to hear Brad has another job waiting for him. I am a little sad though because I figured he would have done a great job with my discount double check.
-
Latest word is Undies is staying on as an assistant. :emawkid:

FWIW, this says Underwood and Evans will join Figger and Assaley at South Carolina and Frank will bring his entire staff with him.
-
:goodbyecruelworld:
-
that's fine. save yourselves. i would rather not see them burn in this dumpster.
-
This is good. Hopefully Rodney goes to Maryland or something.
-
Good news if true
-
it's best if no one with ksu ties is on this staff. I want a quick death, with no "emotional" strings attached.
so help me god, if somehow gene keady becomes some kind of consultant or some crap, I will rough ridin' puke. gene keady needs to be in a retirement center where he can't do any more harm to ksu. where the eff is eddie fogler when you need him.

Can we put to bed the "evil Frank" crap that has been floating out to the message boards now? Would the ENTIRE staff be following an egomaniacal coach plummeting toward self-distruction to a dead end program when at least some of them obviously had other options?
*Oh dear God. I just realized the above actually could be true and Undy still thought it was a better career move then joining oscar Weber.

It's possible that they'd rather follow an Evil Frank than stay with an Evil Currie. Frank at least believes in giving them the resources needed to get their jobs done.
-
Why the eff would Undy want to work for Bubble oscar? That piece of crap loser isn't fit to lick the dog crap off Undy's boots

Eddie's in Columbia with Frank.

Yup. Why on earth hasn't he talked to him already.
I am starting to wean myself on caring now. It is getting easy every time I watch a Weber video.

God. This is a fantastic post.

Weird thing is I stopped giving a eff almost instantly after the Weber hire was announced. It's like I went through all the stages of grieving in an instant. Also, I believe I have some serious emotional walls built up. (Also done almost instantly.) The Lowry hire? lol. Underwood gone? Who gives a eff. Wake me up when it's time for summer football bbs'ing.

Yeah, it's all pretty much pure comedy gold from this point forward.
-
Hilarious that an announcement that he was being retained didn't go out at 6 a.m. this morning, knowing that some emotions needed to be tempered within the fanbase. I hope Brad hangs Currie's nuts from a tree on salary or bolts.
-
Well, that and Undy is probably the only way we don't lose the vast majority of our players. So yeah, I might want to push that meeting up a bit if I was Weber.

KWCH doesn't know crap. No offense to H8KU but if he listened to the retards he should have known they are an awful source.

Maybe KSU basketball needs to be completely burnt to the ground. And then built back up slowly. Because that is what is inevitably going to happen.

I try to think of it like when they let forest fires burn...

would be a great move for Rod, sit out a year, get healthy work on handles, bulk up a little.

oh it's gonna burn but it won't be quick, it will be long smoldering affair like a manure/tire fire

He'll be drafted by the NBA after next season. Why wait 2 years? Plus you really want his draft profile to be from another university?
-
Don't understand why there would be anything upside from our best players leaving. Even if your prime goal is just getting Weber out, the worst thing you could have him start with a bare cupboard, finish at the bottom of the confernce his first year, and actually have him improve the program over his first four years.

oh I think he could stay at the bottom of the conference. oscar has got it in him.

Yeah. The chances of getting rid of Currie involve him leaving after a couple decent years from Weber much more than getting him fired. JMHO.

Absolutely. Schulz is tied to currie and currie is tied to weber. It makes firings difficult.

Will people melt down when Underwood goes to KU or will they embrace KU for pulling him away? tough decission.
-
I have a hard time believing Self has had time to even consider filling that spot yet.
Well Self has lost a coach and a DBO in the last week, so I'm sure he is looking to replace them with good people before they all have jobs. seems like something a good coach would do.
-

I won't be mad at Brad. Would you rather work for Bill Self or oscar Weber?

Would be absolutely fantastic preparation for Brad to come back as HC @ KSU. :ksu:
-
Honestly, now that oscar pretty much has Lowry, I'm fine with Brad following Frank. oscar now has his older, experienced coach on staff. Now he needs a couple of young, energetic recruiters. I get the connection, but now you move on. Just like I didn't want a K-Stater for the principle of it as a HC I'm pretty much the same when it comes to assistants.
-
how will we "lock down the borders" without a local :dunno:
-

Yup, no more landing all the elite Kansas talent, like we enjoyed when Frank was here.
-
So Brad Underwood is certainly kick some ass right now.
He currently has Stephen F. Austin 10-2 with losses to Texas by 10 and East Tennessee St. by 8.
His team is currently rank 88 in kenpom and 6 in the country in forcing turnovers.
This is really impressive considering Stephen F. Austin was ranked 62 last year but lost its top 3 players.

SFA would probably give us a run for our money.

been popping up quite a bit on gpc lately, but the theory frank is suffering without undy's x's and o's may have at least partial validity to it.

yeah south carolina was spectacular last year

:dunno: they seemed more competitive last year, even though they seem to have better talent this year. though i also don't care enough to do any research and will accept my clown suit if someone else does. at any rate, kudos to brad.
-
I know we own the Beach and played them twice, but Frank now gets to play Akron in back to back games within 3 days.

their final kenpom was worse last year. :dunno:

Would take Underwood.
-
Would take Underwood.
i love the idea too, but as a technicality, oscar hasn't mumped up this season yet, so bleak as those first 3 loses made the season appear, a potential 3-0 vs GW/GZ/OleM is trending in the right direction. And if this season goes well, thats actually 2 good years in a row, one of which can't be explained by his atrocious recruiting (i think oscar would honestly be better off leaving recruiting to assistants, he has terrible interpersonal communication skills, i shook his hand once to zero eye contact and a very awkward exchange of pleasantries).
I'm still team burn it down, but i still try to stay objective about it.
-
Any chance that both Currie would offer a job AND Brad accept? I think probably not.
-

He absolutely would. Leaving some Texas hinterland for a chance to coach at his alma mater and hang out with his old buddies who are boosters who would buy him things that matches the value of his current contract. Yeah, he'd come here and work for Bashar al-Assad.

what did Unds do well? certainly wasn't recruit. I guess yippie for the pinch post.

Did he have some high profile misses that I don't remember?
-
I think Huggins just wanted a homegrown guy who he could send all over the state to talk to alumni so that he wouldn't have to do it himself.

Yep. why learn anything about KS if you don't have to(will be leaving in less than a year).
-
It'd be funny if Underwood convinced some of Frank's current staff to follow him here. I bet he'd offer Assaley an assistant coaching position.
-
I would like to think that he understands that he needs 'Te by now.

didn't undy coach blake young and mario little

Brad keeps kicking ass and taking names, even after SF Austin lost two of their best players from last year's squad. I like what oscar is doing here, but I still maintain that we could have done a lot worse than confirmed stud boss Brad Underwood. Hopefully he makes his way back home some day.
-
Not completely sold on BW yet. If he isn't the guy, we need to give Brad a shot.
-
I don't see anyway in which Underwood is not our next coach (unless he somehow ends up being awful). Even if he's good enough to move up to a BCS job, it won't be at a place he vaules more than K-State.
-

He will need to be successful at this job and his next one because oscar is here for at least 5 more years

Yep, if oscar makes the tourney this year and finishes in the top half of the league, then he has bought himself a lot of rope. He can lasso some conference championships or make a noose, but the rope will be his to do with what he pleases.
-
"the rope" is not a bad nickname for oscar
-
-
Thread title has an entirely different meaning in 2014 than it did in 2012... :Wha:
Also, I think oscar could be here long enough to break Hartman's school record for wins.
-
Brad's crushing it this year. He did take over for a stacked team, but still. Good for him.
-
He basically rebuilt the entire roster this year WS08, it looks like he has three transfers and six freshman.
-
:frown:

I just saw they were good last year, so I assumed. It was hard enough to find their results from last year. Not a lot of info out their for the bottom cellar non-bcs conference teams.

:pbj:

he took those wishes and ran.

Reading this, I realize I sometimes conflate the lol of John Currie being birf'd on April Fools Day w/oscar's hiring date.
