Post by: AppleJack on March 31, 2012, 11:48:33 AM

No lines at the bathroom.  Easy to catch shirts thrown in the crowd.  Not worrying about the bubble.

System wise he seems similar to Frank defensively.

Any (I mean ANY) chance this is Currie's way to get Fitz into another "It's Patterson" moment?  Reaching out of desperation, but we know he hates him almost as much as he hates Frank Martin.

If you dig real deep. 2 Big 10 titles, National title appearance. .670 career winning percentage. Solid X's and O's guy. Beat Michigan State, Ohio State and Gonzaga this year.

Problem is if he can't recruit, we're screwed and we just became 2000-06 KSU overnight.  His staff is key.

Ok, so I'm trying not to kill myself.

His '13 class had 2 top 100 players
His '12 class had 0 top 100 players
His '11 class had 4 top 100 players

I believe the main recruiter is Jarrence Howard - I think he wanted to stay at Illinois.  Not sure if Groce kept him (Groce would be stupid not to).

This is our only hope:  that Jerrance Howard comes to KSU with Weber.  If not, there is not hope (not even a little).

From a comedic standpoint, I can't imagine a better hire.

Football season comes before basketball season. Isn't that a positive? For some strange reason though I'm really looking forward to bball this coming season. Can't put my finger on why..

The student athletes in the basketball program will finally stop overshadowing the student athletes on our women's tennis and track teams.

With Bill Self's recruits. So unless Bill Self is on his staff this is a garbage hire.

In the days since he was fired, in between being rejected for jobs by directional schools, perhaps he has had time to assemble GRCOAT-II  :dunno:

He might be bad enough to fire in time for Pearl's show cause to be lifted.

I would imagine so.  Again, this was just the only hope KSU had that oscar won't be a complete and total f'ing joke.

Groce is trying everything to keep howard.

he'd be stupid not too. at the end of this article it made it sound like howard was pissed at Ill.  but as Louise points out, he'd be a perfect fit at KU.  Bill would be stupid not to go after Howard hard.

Tribune sources said Groce had asked for an eight-year contract worth $11 million in total. He also wanted to secure a salary for his top assistant that matched current Illinois assistant Jerrance Howard, whose contract through next season is worth $180,000 per year.

"We didn't iron out anything in concrete form," Groce said. "I know Mike said we're going to work to make sure it's competitive and we're attracting the best (assistants) we can get. I have a lot of confidence in Mike that … we can put a staff together that makes a lot of sense."

Thomas said there is a pool of $450,000 for assistants, but that number could change.

Groce said he hopes to meet soon with Howard, who has recruited the Chicago area.

Howard is likely to look elsewhere for opportunities, a source said, noting he was displeased he was not interviewed for the top job.

This. Self might just win another NC this week and decide it's time for a bigger challenge. Can't really knock this hire until we know Bill Self won't be joining and doing the recruiting.

As a lifelong (more than 50 years) Illinois fan, I can tell you that not only are you getting a bad coach, but he's also a sniveling, whiny little bitch who will blame (mostly) the players, the fans, and anybody else in sight when things start going wrong.

I don't think Jerrance Howard is staying at Illinois, but it's even less likely that he'll follow Weber. Good luck you're going to need it.

1 - Future AD at any school can now play the "we will fire him and hire Weber" card when players try to start a mutiny

2 - We will have a new AD by the time the next football coaching search happens

Where did Weber go to college?  And what are the chances they will fire their coach next year so Weber can go home?  We need to turn our focus on making sure the coach at his Alma Mater is fired!

KU making the championship game for the second time in 4 years has to help Weber land the in-state recruits.

We were dating way out of our league with Huggs and Frank, now we're stuck with the chick who was pretty hot a few years ago but put on some weight and is like a 6 now and we knocked her up and she'sw probably going to stick around for a long time because her dad is a real straight arrow and kind of a douche and is really set on us getting married and stuff now.  eff my life.
