I didn't buy in to that theory at all until Currie answered that question.  If it was his story, he would have had a better answer.  If it was untrue, he would have denied it in some manner.  As it was, it caught him off guard, he stammered around it, but never came close to a denial.  BITB thinks it happened.  After hearing that answer, I do as well.  Would like to know which 6 players it was (6 is # BITB used)

I want more team being sick details.  Like were they so sick of him that a locker room slushy machine wouldn't have solved it?  I mean, a slushy machine isn't that expensive and would have drawn a lot less public scrutiny than what is happening now.

The rumors were that he was leaving when Frank was still coach. Nobody is going to leave before they at least see who their coach will be if they stay.

Shane, hotrod, nino, will and BigGib have been all linked to the mutiny of Frank by rumor.  :horror surprise:
4 out of 5 were top 150 players and Will was right there, John might of maybe the right decision if this is true.
The roster would of been crap for the next three years.

Anybody remember HotRod intervening at Missouri when Frank called a time out just to yell at Will.

I do.

HotRod appeared to giving Frank the "WTF . . . Really?" treatment.

810 this morning played a Bill Self clip, where he mentioned that Frank told him this could be a possibility weeks ago.  Really?  WTF?  Maybe there is more the mutiny store that I wanted to believe...but that certainly casts a strange light on the situation.  Coupled with the players not seeming too upset that he left, Frank not coming back to tell the team in person, etc maybe this was a foregone conclusion (?)
Title: Re: Apparently the whole team was sick of Frank...
Post by: BW on March 28, 2012, 08:26:39 AM
The theory in my head goes like this:

Early in the season, Frank's demeanor on the bench seemed more calm than in past years. Maybe this was in part due to some ultimatum some of the players had given him. But as the season went on he couldn't help himself.

He knew that at least a third of the roster was going to transfer (not just the scrubs), that would kill his career. No talented kids would come to play for someone who was already seen as a hardass and that had just ran half the squad. He knew his time was up in Manhattan and needed to get out before roster imploded. This is why he took a step down to SC. The Jamar thing just gave him the excuse to put the blame on him leaving on Currie.

I'm going to buy into every rumor that tarnishes Frank's name. Then, when we hire a bad coach, I'm going to buy into every rumor that tarnishes Currie's name.

I will do this even if the two rumors fundamentally contradict one another.

Basically, we need to get all the hostages up stairs and blow the roof.
