Title: Currie has to have his guy waiting in the wings right?
Post by: nicname on March 26, 2012, 10:16:08 PM
Right?  I mean, he wouldn't let this happen if that wasn't the case would he?  He may be a huge prick (I have no idea), but he isn't an idiot.

I think so, but a lot of people don't.  :dunno:

the fact that he didn't try very hard to keep frank makes me hopeful.  i'm sure those hopes will be dashed several months from now when we still don't have a rough ridin' bball coach

It's either Underwood or we're starting from scratch.

Yeah. I mean currie is a driven, intelligent, spicy and middle eastern individual. There were two ways he would play this. 1). Do whatever it took to keep frank because he knew no one else was coming , or 2). Let frank go because he has something else ready to go. Or 3). He's a complete dumbass, which I don't think he is.

I said this pretty much exact same thing earlier.  If this isn't "his guy" (which, for specificity's sake, has to be Pearl, right?) then none of this adds up at all.

If we get the impression that there is actually going to be a real coaching search tomorrow, I'll want to kill Currie.

Exactly.  It all just seems so bizarre.  I mean, the guy wouldn't deliberately sabotage his own career.

On the bold, Yes.

It is too big of a career move for Currie to not have a damn good replacement when being responsible for losing a school's best coach ever.

maybe not waiting in the wings, but good ADs have a solid list of phone calls ready at all times.  To think otherwise is foolish.  I definately see Currie as the kind of guy to have lots of lists, coachs to prefered Manhattan eateries, ranging from OG to....well OG.

Shultzy said JC had a list of BB coaches 3 1/2 years ago when he was interviewing for the AD spot at KSU.

I can't help but think he would put his own man who he helped hire, oscar Pearl, at the top of his list.

Make it a reality.
