i know traditionally he has sucked in march but the bill self may be best the regular season coach in the business.
does anyone have any thoughts on bringing in a jayhawk for a head coach? i think we make a serious run at Self and bring him into the Powercat family. thoughts?
-
Program wise its probably a step down. Everything else though would be a step up.
I would call it a lateral-to slight upward move. Could see it happening.
-
I don't see any reason Currie shouldn't make a run at Self. Would be a great destination job for him.
-
Now hold on, I mean I think we'd definitely have to overpay to bring a coach in-conference. If we go that route I'd probably take a serious look at Rick Barnes. That man knows how to bring em in and coach em up. He has more NBA All-Stars than an NBA All-Star team and I'd just like to throw his name in to this discussion right here.
-
Lon is the most experienced coach in the league...
-
May not be Currie's decision to make.
-
I don't know guys. Might be kind of tough with our friends down the road there for a bit. We would probably need to do a sign and place. Have Bill go down to Garden City or something for a couple years before bringing him in full-time. Sure he would take that.
-
Pffftttt, like Self would come to a place that turns in players for getting discounts at Dillard's.
-
Absolutely. Gotta think self would jizz at the thought of being able to use fall gameday atmosphere as a recruiting tool.
-
iirc, Compton has some properties in MHK and does a bit of work in Junct. Could get him behind this too if MHK could get behind some shady land deals.
-
I would rather go after Coach K, but I guess Self would suffice.
-
If Currie wants to save his job after he runs off Frank, he better go hire John Wooden!
-
No question we would have a better shot than OSU did a few years ago. I think he turned down OSU hoping the KSU job would soon open up.
-
do not want.
-
oscar Pearl is available. I hear he runs a very clean program.

i made a thread for this like 2 or 3 months ago. But to answer your question, yes, he has to.
-
Coach swap?
-
we have $23 mil to play with. :gocho:
-
Without Manning he is worthless. I mean you can sell Self to the tucks but Self and Manning?
No way.
-
Ive heard Phil Jacksons name being thrown around.
-
The triangle was invented here.

Playing against the triangle and 2 is a totally different matter.

My brother-in-law works for in the Oklahoma State AD and said that whenever Self wants it, the job is his. Self said they next time he accomplished something big at KU, like a Final 4 or NC, he would probably take it. The only issue right now is Ford's ridiculous buyout, which Boone will probably pay for at any point in time. But if there's a holdup on that, I can see him biding his time at K-State.
Anyway, I don't want him here. We'll always have to wonder when he'll go back to OSU.

Not sure if serious.
