... movies, TV shows, and musicals.
I like to read the book first then watch the movie/show. Although sometimes the show gets me interested in the book like with Game of Thrones and TruBlood.
-
Which one of you dumbasses is going to respond with Twilight? I usually end up doing the reverse of what you do, watch the movie then go back and read the book. You're doing it in the right order.
Bret Easton Ellis has three books that have been turned into movies, I actually enjoy all of them.
The book version of American Psycho is :sdeek: compared to the movie.

i really love his books. for the most part though i don't have the patience to read a book, but when it does happen it's because i saw a movie/show that i liked and it got me interested. i can't think of a specific instance where i saw the movie after the book.

Justified has got me pretty geeked to check out Elmore Leonard's stuff...

Yeah, I never do it the right way either unless it is by chance. When I do get lucky enough to read a book before I find out there is a movie about the same thing (this is usually the only way this happens for me) then I get to watch the movie and be all, "I wonder what they will leave out of the movie," and then be all uppity and snobbish because I read the book first. It's a treat.
-
reading for pleasure. I tried it definitely not a pleasure. I usually make it 2/3 the way through a book and then get too bored or find something better to do.
-
I read fight club a couple of years ago, I was impressed at how much the movie followed the book.
-
Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption
-
Right now I'm reading Feast for Crows, so I am trying to hurry up and finish it before the second season of Game of Thrones starts so I don't confuse myself.
Also, the mini series for Pillars of the Earth was pretty good.
The musical Wicked and the book Wicked were only about 10% alike, but both were good for what they were.

I plan on being an uppity son-of-a-bitch all over the Ender's Game movie's face when that comes out. It's going to be great.

This movie could either be incredible or awful*
awful=entertaining but not following the book very well or messing with the images i already had in my mind

What a scenario that would be 8mp, then you get to be all, "You know, this movie was entertaining, but, if you'd read the book you'd know it strays fromthe original plot-line in some key places." Then who ever you are talking to will feel uninformed and small.
This movie could either be incredible or awful*

CAN'T. WAIT.

Flew threw reading Hunger Games in a few hours friday night and saturday morning and watched the movie with goEMAW kid Cole about 7 hours later. Kind of liked seeing the movie right afterwards. Guess I'll wait until Summer 2013 before I crack open another book (download to iPad).

Thought the pillars mini series could have been a lot better. seemed pretty low budget at the time.
-
I didn't know whether to put this in the "He is Risen" thread or this one, but I am starting to read "World War Z" today. Just finished the Hunger Games trilogy, the third book was laughably awful. But, World War Z is supposed to be really good, and the movie is coming out in 2013 with Brad Pitt.
ZOMBIES!
-
World War Z is really good.
-
Great news FINALLY got to the good part Feast for Crows! :driving:
-
Seems like the second season of GOT is moving really fast to me.
-
Yes, I did enjoy world war z. Looking forward to the movie.

I did this exact same thing. Read it at a bookstore while my wife shopped then went to the movie like an hour later. Ok, so not "exact" same. But really similar!
