for the cats to beat syracuse?
IMO
1. Guards need to take care of the ball
2. JO needs to play like he has been (connecting on a DOB would be nice too :crossfingers:)
3. We need to shoot a respectable 3PT% against their zone
We can do it! :emawkid:

• How important is Angel Rodriguez? K-State is 10-2 when he has a positive assist-to-turnover ratio, and 0-4 when it's a negative ratio
-
I really want to see us get an oreb and a 3 before the under 16 minute timeout. I think it would be great for our confidence.
-
1. Play offense from the high post/FT line area. I'd say we need to generate at least 12-15 good shots playing off that spot. That can mean jumpers for Rod/Jamar/JO from there, skip passes from there, high/low between Jamar/JO, or JO/Jamar drives.
2. Generate shots. So Miss had 60 attempts compared to only 42 for us and we aren't going to beat Syracuse that way. The Orange have the capabilities to oboard like So Miss did and on our end we've got to do a much better job getting oboards. It will be very important to extend possessions as much as possible if we can't hit shots today.
3. Defend the guards. I'm not certain the Syracuse bigs can beat us, we need to force their offense to run through them and get the ball out of the guard's hands. Joseph will be a tough guard for us, whoever rotates on him must handle it.

I hope Frank is wearing some green? :ohno: :ohno: (ftp://:ohno: :ohno:)

Yeah, JO/Jamar really needs to hit a couple elbow jumpers each.
-
I agree that perimeter shots and JO performing like he is able to are huge. Jamar also needs to have a pulse. 9 and 6 from him with tough D would go a long way.
-
Transistion D has to be solid. Syracuse is 4th in the nation in fast break points. Cant let them get long rebounds off of our outside shots and get going with numbers the opposite way. Also no lazy TOs that let the Cuse guards get out in transistion
Syracuse zone is a lot different, but playing Baylor 3 times and against their zone hopefully helps us some today.
I wont lie, I am nervous
-
1. Scoop Jardine play like Poop Jardine
2. JO play like MJ (but taller, and dunkier, and shot blockier)
3. Rodney tells Dion Waiters he'll see him Dion Laters after like his 4th straight 3.
-
I would really appreciate it if we didn't allow them 1 bagillion layups when we get beat off of the dribble on defense.
Guarding the Cuse guards/wings so closely so far out, is going to eff us.
-
AND, those lazy ass perimeter passes. Have to eliminate those. Cuse will pick those off left and right.
Would kill us to move the ball around the outside either, instead of holding the ball and staring at the dude in front of you.

This is all about 2 things IMO, guard play and long rebounds. Angel, Will, Rod, Tay, etc. must handle the defense of Waiters, Triche, and Jardine at those top 2 guard spots in the 2-3. Those guys bait you into bad passes, come out and press/trap, and get hands on long passes. Then, a lot of teams try to shoot a ton of 3s, and often those come out long. In the zone, Syracuse relies on those 3 bottom guys and one of the guards to get the board and while one guard goes deep. The game I remember this hurting us the worst was KU. Syracuse likes to play at about the same pace as us (65 possessions), but those times they can run they make you pay.

Need some Will Spradling charges in transition

3 (Three!) moving screens called against us Thursday.

Between that and the calls at the end of UNC-Asheville's game, I think we maybe set to get a couple in this one.
-
1. guards have to make 3's and good decisions in the high/low game
2. can't let their guards dribbledrive us to death. JO needs to block about 8 shots again.
3. have to JYC'em to death. if we beat 'em on the boards both sides, we will give ourselves a shot.
guys, i wanna win. i don't wanna get hurt by these littleboy loving creeps.
