Just got word yesterday that one of my coworkers died over the weekend. It was the second one in a year. Both from natural causes, the first was an older gentleman (60's/70's) from a heart attack. The most recent one was 47, for causes yet undetermined other than she died in her sleep. Didn't know either one terribly well, just in passing. Never had anyone I worked with die before these two.
Anyone else ever have a coworker die?

Not me, but I'm pretty sure RD actually killed a co-worker for breathing too loudly. :ohno:
-
no. where i work we are all beautiful and fit.

Yeah. Sounds like you work in a coal mine or something, dude.

Never experienced one dying, but have experienced a few with major debilitating sickness/affliction.
One of the most respected/feared guys in my old company had a mild stroke and was diagnosed with MS all in the same 2 or 3 mo period. Nothing like watching a guy like that deteriorate physically.
Horrible crap.

Hate when people get serious illnesses at the office. Brings the whole place down, and everyone has to pretend like they give a eff when in reality 90% of the time all your thinking is "Don't touch my coffee mug, Philadelphia!"

Used to work with this kid at Holiday Inn in MAnhattan. He would give me a ride home sometimes. Then aa few years later I got a job at Manko, he worked there too. Then some other dude that worked at MAnko killed him. Cut his head off I think. Def. was not a good time, the kid was a pretty good dude it seemed a little wierd but seemed like a good guy.
Later when I still worked at MAnko one of the MGR types died from I think a hert attack, this guy was a real bad person so it was an odd thing, people didnt know whether to be sad or not.

Hert attacks are the worst.

I don't know, that getting the head chopped off thing seems pretty unpleasant. :dunno:

Ouch. Did they offer any employment therapy classes?

Had a guy who sat a couple rows over from me die. It was a prolonged thing though -- he got sick, was out for a couple of months, then we got news that he died. No one went in to his cube for a couple of months afterwards.

Yeah, that would be the worst, when you have to watch it slowly take them (after the decapitation thing).

Trying to remember that. Was the guy who killed him his roomate? I'm thinking they got into a fight over PS2 games and DVDs...not sure if I'm remembering that or another freakish homicide.

Had an old dude lose a fight with cancer a few weeks ago here at my office. He worked up until about 3 months ago.
Before he died about once a week someone would go in and absolutely wreck the toilet in the men's room. Looked like a Japanese porno gone wrong. Scat everywhere. On the toilet, the floor, sometimes on the wall. It appeared someone would just bend over in front of the toilet and spray mud everywhere.
Anyway... long story short. He's dead and the toilet issue has never come up again.
