Title: Des Moines
Post by: jtksu on March 11, 2012, 12:25:34 AM: How do you guys feel about that place? Got a pretty nice promotion offered to me if I'm willing to relocate. Only spent a small amount of time in Des Moines, initial impressions are decent. Probably live in WDM/Clive area... but I don't really have any definite ties to that area if other areas are preferable. Cost of living similar to say KC? Don't give a damn about quality of schools or anything, more interested in crime rates, quality of restaurants/ nightlife/ etc.,

yeah, dsm is definitely nicer. lil' sis lives downtown and i'd definitely spend a weekend there instead of wichita.

yep. nicer. a little bigger. and more stuff to do. colder though so factor that in.

Post by: jtksu on March 11, 2012, 03:03:30 AM: Not a big fan of cold but I don't mind the weather in Minneapolis so I imagine Des Moines wouldn't be too bad. I imagine summers in Des Moines would make up for the winters. (In comparison to ICT, that is.)

I like Des Moines. Everything a state capitol should be. Hessan Haus is a great place to get a boot of beer. Definitely better than Wichita.
