this was an original mission of the KATPAK association, the eventual goal being to replace the antiquated Catbacker events. i have no desire to ever see Gary Raffety's crazy haircut ever again.

Ok, I have class until 10, and then I'm free the rest of the day. When I first moved here I went to the office a lot, never been to celtic fox. Figured I'd just walk next door if everyone was leaving me.  :)

I just saw that Ottawa has a Pak President for their chapter. I was wondering if there was an incumbent in TopCityChopCity, if it was a dictatorship or democracy, etc.

Yes. Real life PI works. Did this to a Thai restaurant that did not serve booze. Now I can bring in my own beer or whatever to have with my dinner.

Welp, I won't be able to make it to my first ever Pak.     A couple of loser slackers in my dept. called in/didn't show so my boss asked me to only take 30 minutes for lunch.  Very conflicted here.  Should I quit my job and show up anyway?  Any advice would be appreciated.

I even stopped in to the world headquarters of Alma Creamery this morning and picked up a couple packages of curds for all of us Pak'rs to enjoy.

Found myself, racquetcat, Sundance_Kid, Ging, and Slimz at Celtic Fox enjoying the mediocre lunch buffet and ever more mediocre basketball game.  Would suggest venue with less elderly and less senatorial types for future Topakas.

it was quality company, but i think a nascent 'pak chapter should try to make sure there will be drinking going on at their first event.

and eff saul for not showing.

Post by: SdK on March 08, 2012, 03:03:33 PM
It's all raquetcats fault guys! He picked the venue. A place full of senatorial types very super pac and un super pak. A place that didn't allow EMAW raucousness to flow with all its glory. Who does that guy think he is? Making reservations and ensuring we have a table with a good view of the tv. :)

Seriously though, it was good company, terrible game. I would recommend a different place in the future though. Next time, definitely drinking. Definitely. It just didn't seem the place for a pak. No offense raquetcat! I appreciate the work you did. I haven't been to many places in town, so I'm afraid I don't have too good of a recommendation for the future. I'll scout out some options.

Also, more of you Topeka EMAW need to come out. Jesus tits, we get reservations for 8 and we get 4/5? We had the reservations under goEMAW and then have that turnout. Unforgivable!

Also eff this Ging guy for making me google nascent!

I have it on good authority that Saul LOVES a good sausage fest, especially at Old Chicago or the chinese buffet at 17th and Fairlawn.

But yes, thanks to raquetcat for making all the arrangements for the inaugural Topaka.    For future Topakas I suggest Blue Moose, or Skinny's.   SKinny's is pro-KU during KU games, but is a solid viewing location, and they loudly play game audio which is a bonus.

Blue Moose doesn't seem like the kind of place that would be cool with torrents of raging EMAW.  Skinny's is a good choice IMO.  Goose Again could also be a contender.  I would feel comfortable walking into either of those places with an armload of Alma Cheese Curds.

Skinnys is just down the street tho, and a good place.   :peek:

this can be said about 99.9 percent of topeka.

good first attempt. i love saul, but you might as well have me there. we're both horrible at stuff like new katpaks and making the rounds and things. my advice would be to have all the topeka pakr's show up to the next moap and then you have the benefit of pete and other elite pak'rs there with you. will make everything so much easier moving forward. also, alcohol and not having to work afterwards. god damn though, love you guys for trying.

yep. today was probably a mhkmoap but the game sucked and we really didn't really get the chance to hang out before or after. everybody was kind of spread out but it was still fun. a good game in the second half and we would've burned the place down.

moap (historically) has been the mother of all paks like stevesie said and takes place during an early fball game when the weather is still nice, etc. it's when every person that wants to come by comes by and good times are had by all. the biggest get together of the year. i've been to all of them and they've been great. come with a friend or whatever and talk to a lot of people or don't. it's a better time than you think it would be.

Hey guys, I'm having a #Gottlieb4KSU pak tonight, and going to the rally tomorrow. If there are any EMAWs who would like to join in, holla at a playa.

I won't be able to drive EMAWS to the rally as I am going to mhk for reasons other than the rally. If you need a ride there, I can do that, and I can bring you back Sunday and cannot offer a place to stay. But a ride solely for the rally I cannot provide.

Pak tonight though, at my place. Drinking and listening to podcasts is on the agenda so far. Open to other options!

importing wichita and mhk pak'rs did wonders for our salina branch :th_twocents:

if scottwildcat lands a permanent gig in topeka, i think he would be an excellent candidate.

Yup have bids in to be a MHKer, Wichita'r a KCer, and a Topeka'r. (And a weird and slight possibility of New York City) If one of the Topeka jobs wins out then I will take over as the head Topeka Pak'r Organizer.
