Title: Windows 8
Post by: ednksu on March 01, 2012, 01:27:47 PM
Anyone DL the preview?

Not impressed with the App home screen.  There are also tool bar organizers that are only randomly available.

I can't tell if you are being serious or not, but this is probably right.

I think Microsoft is way too late to the tablet game. If they don't come very strong they will lose, big time.

At what point does Google decide to get into the operating system business and take over the world?

Using, its great. There are a few complaints but nothing huge. Start screen is much better use of my 2560x1600 resolution than the start menu was :D

Considering Windows 8 will by far be the best Tablet OS available, I would disagree.

Start screen is more efficient  than the start menu. It only acts as your "home screen" on tablets, it is still just the start menu replacement on desktops/laptops

NOT IMPRESSED

Go download the Windows Server Preview, dork.

It will be the best tablet OS for people that need a full featured OS with the convenience of an iPad - which is like 1% of the market.

Start menu is better use of screen than dock.

But if you can get more features with equal or better usability at similar prices (except compared to budget devices like the kindle fire) why wouldn't they sell?

I can display every single app installed on my computer...not that I need to because the only thing I use start for is to search. pisstroll's attempts are quite sad. Quit being so jealous.

Windows 7 is going to be the enterprise standard for the next several years, anyway, so they might as well just throw all the crap they want at the wall with 8, work out the kinks, then package it for enterprise with Windows 9. It's the same thing as happened with XP to Vista to 7.

I don't own a single thing from Microsoft. My copies of Windows are from MSDN, and that is the only Microsoft product I use. :dunno:

Who wants to tell me why I can't partition my C: drive? I have 96 GB availible, but when I tell it I want to shrink, it says I can only shrink by 200 MB...

well win 8 killed my winload.exe on my 7 partition so that was cool......

If you have a dual boot, make sure all your items are backed up on your primary OS (7 for me).  Recovery console was able to repair the issue for me, but I've had issue in the past that weren't so easily repaired.

Not a fan of the home screen right now.  still getting familiar.  I do like the calendar feature a lot (small but good part).  I'm having issue with my xbl account getting snyced.  I have an email for that and another one for general use.  Not sure I want to link my accounts through email, would rather have some other option.  I have NOT fully explored that, so I'm probably missing something.  I would prefer the tool bars to be accessible throughout the entire edge instead of just at the corners.

You keep zune out of your mouth.

It was a great platform that Microsoft failed to promote.
