Title: McGruder and FTs
Post by: Powercat Posse on February 29, 2012, 12:04:42 AM
Made 33 of his last 36 FTs.    87.1%  in confernce play  :eye:

Angel made 5-6 FTs down the stretch vs aTm.......... but we really need to get the ball to Rodney in the final minutes when we have the lead

Will is actually a 83.3% FT shooter in conference.  Very solid, but i just TRUST Gruds.

really happy with the way Rodney is returning to form.  I guess it was true that he is a practice/repetition player.  I believe it was before the Mizzou game (not sure, could be Baylor) that he had missed the previous 12 practices.

In terms of FT trust

Rodney>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Will>Angel and even than its a game time decision since both have come up short.

Obviously, we want Rod to shoot, followed by Will.  Teams know this and will try to negate this as often as possible.  Love how Angel is so rough ridin' ice cold in many moments that should rattle a freshman though.  I have the feeling he will be taking most of our key FTs down the stretch, hope he continues tonight's performance.

I want the ball in angel's hands. Will wanted no part of those FTs. Angel can dribble out if trapped. The other two would be toast.

I took OP to mean something more like intentional foul is coming, who do we get the ball to.  Not a late game press into trap situation.

I agree that Angel is our best chance at a late game trap break.  Will would get bottled up in a 5 sec call. Rodney would probably have it stolen.

But, If we're in bounding the ball for an intentional foul, I want it in Rodney's hands.

Totally agree.  Want Angel handling the ball in any key situation.  Hopefully last night turned the corner on his FT issues.

Yeah, pretty much everyone tries to trap and cause a turnover before they intentionally foul.

Angel did look calm last night late in the game.  Almost all his makes were swishes.    When he is not relaxed he shoots his FTs long.

That said, i still want Rodney taking the clutch FTs is possible.    But it is more logical to want to have Angel get the inbounds pass when they are trying to foul late.

We get it, Angel shoots his free throws long.

Spradling is spineless. I don't trust him at the line at crunch time.
