Post by: steve dave on February 27, 2012, 12:51:45 PM

It looks like a bunch of wood panels behind a mounted TV.  What am I missing?

i'd really love to skip to the chase and just start discussing the new tv you bought, i'm assuming that's the real point of  this thread.

slow down man, do you think you're Christopher Lowell or something?   You obv. aren't qualified to make home decor decisions.   Mods please move to the handiman'ness thread.

Conference rooms don't even use those.

Looks like someone is trying to mount a tv on a dorm room closet door.  :barf:

OT, but has anyone tried out one of these bad boys yet?  I'm skeptical yet strangely hard at the thought.

Would be skeptical. Sound can only be engineered so much.  Sq ft area and size of speaker is hard to out perform

Also, surround sound is about direction as much as anything.  You can't replicate something coming from overhead or behind you if it is in front of you.

Anything that can precisely direct and bend soundwaves like that has to be witchcraft.  :dubious:

Best Buy has a couple of the higher end ones in their Magnolia Collection so I assume it must produce pretty high quality sound.  And yes, it's clearly witchcraft but that's okay with me.

Here is a cheaper alternative (http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/catalog/servlet/Search?keyword=stud+finder&selectedCatgry=SEARCH+ALL&langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053&Ns=None&Ntpr=1&Ntpc=1) to the evosystem.

Also, if you need to buy a mount or cables for your new TV, go to monoprice.com. Really good stuff for very little money.
