Title: Out-efficient the most efficient (MU adv stats part 2)
Post by: kso_FAN on February 21, 2012, 09:36:08 PM
1st   Pace   PPP   eFG%   TO%   OR%   FTR
KSU   31   1.29   53.6%   12.9%   40.0%   42.9%
Opp   31   0.97   41.4%   16.1%   28.6%   31.0%

2nd   Pace   PPP   eFG%   TO%   OR%   FTR
KSU   34   1.12   66.7%   20.6%   10.0%   41.7%
Opp   34   1.12   48.4%   14.7%   30.0%   35.5%

Total   Pace   PPP   eFG%   TO%   OR%   FTR
KSU   66   1.18   59.6%   16.7%   28.0%   42.3%
Opp   66   1.03   45.0%   15.2%   29.3%   33.3%

We took the most efficient offense in the country and beat them at their own game. MU came in averaging a league best (Big 12 games only) 1.15 PPP. We were at less than one; .99 PPP. MU came in at 56.2% eFG%, again best in league games. We were at 46.2%. So it makes sense that the Cats would shoot 59.6% for the game (and 66.7% in the 2nd half) in winning in Columbia. We finally got to a 40% FTR and were solid in TOs, but neither team oboarded really well. Of course its hard to oboard when you make that many shots. Defensively holding MU to 1.03 and 45% eFG% at home is really impressive.

Just a great win for EMAW. EMAWzing.

crazy way for this team to win. I'm surprised at how low MU's first half TO numbers were - it seemed like they were turning it over quite a bit.

Of course Frank didn't pull his starters up 10, so he still looks like the fool that he is.

Again, 2pt shots were huge. 22-43 for K-State, 15-34 for MU. Cats were much more efficient from 3 also, 6-9 compared to 8-26.

Mizzou came out shooting the ball well early.

 First 10 possessions= 16 points
6-13 FG, 4-6 3pt,
 61.5 eFG%,  1.60 PPP, 57.1 OR%

The remaining 34 minutes of the game = 52 points
17-47 FG, 4-20 3pt,
40.4 eFG%, 0.93 PPP  ---- both
23.5 OR%

Great offensive game and the 66.7 eFG% in the 2nd half was   ......... but the JYC were on the prowl again
