Talked to my mom about this a while back. She's an oncologist, also very conservative and anti-drug. HOWEVER, she says that she thinks that it is very beneficial for chemo patients.
Was surprised to hear that she was an advocate for it.

I have been feeling super anxious lately.
Use glaucoma. There has been a huge increase in glaucoma cases in 20 somethings in CA since 1996.

So this is the new neo con anti pot excuse? Why not let people chose their own medicine?

I'm a well know proponent of legalizing marijuana.

Marijuana is about as medicinal as Wild Turkey.
That being the case, if people want to toke, let them toke :bigtoke:

This.
I think it's much less destructive as a recreational drug than alcohol.

But Wild Turkey DOES have some medicinal qualities, just not that much. Works great when a cowboy is taking a bullet out of his arm.

well, glad we're all on the same page

It's a gateway drug. Are you guys rough ridin' kidding me? The human is conditioned to handle to effects of alcohol, but is not yet ready for marijuana, in fact the effect it has on the body makes one want to experiment more. It's a proven rough ridin' fact. I can't believe you are all on board with this.

Yeah I think its going to be a great thing for Kansas. I read somewhere that Mary Jane enhance's your chemo so it makes it more effective. Something about cannabanoids or something.
Then you just factor in that They have had a study and they said you could smoke a joint a day for like a 7 years and it really doesnt effect your lungs... Unlike Tobacco.
And I think we are bound for a full legalization anyway. Its getting more and more obvious that it really is not a bad thing. And when Ron Paul takes over the white house we can all truly have personal freedom.

Recently cooked with weed butter and oil, the possibilities are right there in front of people's faces. Smoking is still smoking and harmful, but there's so much you can do with it.

Brownies are fantastic.

I think the main thing holding it up from being legalized is that they can't monitor how much is in your system like they can alcohol. If it's going to be legalized, there is going to be a legal limit, and they'll have to be able to test one's limit at the spot.

I don't think anyone has ever died from too much weed, but you can from too much alcohol. I think it has more to do with perception from those that have never tried it, and the "gateway drug" bullshit. The only reason it may be a gateway drug for some is because the same people selling weed are also selling other types of drugs. Take the dealers out of the equation and you won't have that problem.

While this may be an issue down the road, it is certainly not whats keeping it illegal right now. There are entire industries and government agencies that are making damn sure it isnt legal.
-
I understand the argument but there conversly is no way of determining how impared i am from pharmies. I can blast a handful of percocets and be in no condition to drive, but there is no perc-o-lyzer to hammer me on the spot.

On the spot, sure. however, can't they force a pee or blood test if something is obvs?

My bad. I was thinking along the lines of potency.

Whoever invents a device that can do that will make a bazillion dollars, and also be a hero to the legalization movement.

Something that tests reflexes? Have your employs do a motor skills test sober stay off the pot long enough to be deemed clean, have them do a brief motor skills test. When there is suspicion of highness, have them do the test. Significant change indicates abuse? I know it would have to be a lot more high tech than that. That was just the first thing that came to mind.

so in a united states with legal marijuana, do you have to have a license to grow?

I believe you do in CA. We had a proposition to decriminalized marijuana fail last year that would have let you use a 5' x 5' plot of land to grow for your own use.

Wild Turkey can also be used as a sterilizing agent for when sucking out venom from a rattlesnake bite. I saw this on an episode of either Dukes of Hazard or A Team. Or both.
