says $5 a gallon gas on the horizon.
Friend to Big Oil (of course that is if you take the Obamabot thinking route, and only take into account gross profits, and forget about silly little things like margins and such).

Obama just hates poor people and won't lift a finger to try and help lower prices. Then he'll blame his cronies in the oil business and take their contributions.
-
If it hits $5/gal he can kiss the WH goodbye. He can spin it however he wants, blame whoever he wants, but he will lose the general election.

That's the problem with ideologues, won't give an inch even if it kills him (or someone else). The green agenda just is not ready for prime time no matter how much we want it to be.

Dax reads Newsmax.

So the interview didn't actually happen because it was on a website associated with NewsMax . . . on a link that was linked off the Drudge Report?? I didn't pay any attention to any NewsMax assocation, I saw moneynews.com.
That's like saying that everything done by so called "legitimate" news outlets is absolute fact, never to be questioned for political leanings etc. etc. Absurd.
You read the Drudge Report

You don't "read" the Drudge Report... it is a conglomeration of news stories from various news sources. I read linked stories from ABC, CBS, CNN, HuffPo, Al Jazeera, all the time...

speculaters gonna speculate

drudge report is probably the best place to get news. Beats the hell out of cable thats for sure.

Dax, it's not the quotes I have a problem with. It's the putrid bullshit spread between the various quotes in the article.
Furthermore, by halting expansion of the Keystone pipeline project from Canada into the United States, the Obama administration further missed an opportunity to increase energy supply, while natural gas production needs to increase as well.
Let's just pretend that Keystons XL isn't a gambit to get Canadian oil to the Gulf where prices are higher and exporting is easier and believe the author on the first point. The second point is pure rough ridin' bullshit. NG closed at about $2.50/mcf today. NG producers are literally shutting down production because prices are so low and they're running out or storage for natural gas.
Iran factor
Some experts say should tensions between Iran and the West escalate to the point that the Islamic republic comes closer to developing nuclear weapons and Israel attacks it, oil could shoot up as high as $300 a barrel.
Unnamed experts that believe the world economy would withstand $200 oil long enough to get to $300 right now.
An attack would require U.S. military assistance and money — unlikely in an election year.
Plus, Iran's nuclear installations are underground and well-concealed.
Yeah, the U.S. has already given Israel all the assistance and money it needs to destroy Iran's nuclear capabilities. LOL at throwing in underground and well-concealed. I mean it's well known that Israel doesn't have any sort of intelligence agency or anything.
Yes, it's possible that gas may hit $5 a gallon in places this year. And Obama might be responsible for 0.05 percent of that. His first day in office Obama could have signed a "Drill, Baby, Drill" law and it wouldn't make a rough ridin' difference today. No president in the last three decades has put forth a coherent energy policy.
Of course, you only started paying attention to politics in 2009 so you're going to be a little ignorant of some of this.
-
Here's a quote for you Dax,
The recent widening of the spread between WTI and global crude prices, plus the deep discounts for Canadian and Bakken crude have lowered the floor for Midwest product prices to fall relative to Nymex or Gulf Coast values, JP Morgan said in a note on Tuesday.
Boy, getting Keystone finished to ship that oil straight to the gulf will really lower the price of oil.

You're being literal and reactionary as usual 06.
All of that blather is perfectly understandable. Strange though, apparently "Market Forces" are a new thing, only coming into play in about 2008 or so . (that's a touch of sarcasm 06, try it sometime)
But at the end of the day pump prices are up 90% under the current administration and the price of necessities and related items are up significantly as well under the current administration . So why does Barry W. Obama hate the working poor so much?
Policy towards Iran is not a product of this administration? (Gosh would would Iran feel threatened anyway? Surrounded by Nuclear Powers and U.S./NATO military bases. I must admit, if you've followed the progress of such things, you'd see that PNAC couldn't have held hold a candle to this administration. This administration is PNAC on steroids with a JOLT Cola chaser. Oh wait, wait, Iran sponsors terrorists . . . I mean it's not $75 Billion dollars in arms deals and billions more in military aid in the last year to Middle Eastern countries but it is "sponsorship" none-the-less.)
Hey watching the Today Show right now, story on gas prices, one man on the street said, "EVERYTHING is going up, except the paycheck". Look at Theresa Montana, flower store owner, she had to raise her delivery price $1 dollar per delivery because of gas prices. That's just for flowers 06 . . . why does the administration hate working people? Oh wait, the Today Show also mentioned those newly relevant "Market Forces" for the price of gasoline. (there's a touch of sarcasm there 06) . Funny, they didn't mention a failed "green energy" policy that this administration is pursuing . . . that almost ignores viable alternative transitory technologies (I'll have to see how vested GE is in those viable alternative transitory technologies).
Gas was more than $4 per gallon at one point during Bush's presidency. It's not really fair to compare the highest price of gasoline under Obama's presidency to the lowest cost under Bush's, especially when the world market dictates price more than the domestic market.

Gas went up more than 400 percent under Bush so Kanye was right.

Dax, I don't get your obsession with sarcasm. Please explain.
-
Love the Obama made gas go up talking point. Love how the right completely ignores how high it got under Bush and the resulting death of the economy.
-
Dax, I don't get your obsession with sarcasm. Please explain.
Yes, obviously you don't get it.
So was your original post supposed to be sarcastic? Do you actually know what sarcasm is? Should I point out the many instances of my use of sarcasm in this thread for you?
-
Is it common for you to defend your sarcasm as if it were a legitimate point? Seems like an incredibly odd thing to do.
-
For the Obama admin to be as radical as PNAC they would have to start wars with more middle eastern countries, have a military base in Cuba to keep goat farmers, and act like passing the Patriot Act and NDAA is for out "safety"
so yeah...sounds about right.
-
But what does Chris Merriweather say?

But, I thought that it was Bush and ExxonMobil that were in on a conspiracy to reap massive profits from oil price gouging??? Is Obama one of them?

i would say that. Let us not forget that at the end of the day R's and D's all work for the same people, start wars for the same people, and regulate for the same people. Different side, same coin.
-
Who is the "right" anyway . . . stating facts make is a "right" issue? Absurd.
So what you've said ednksu is that "Market Forces" don't impact energy pricing, President's do . . . so thanks for the $4 a gallon gas Barry W. Obama.
LOL WUT Engrish language much?
No market force impact pricing, especially when a President passes an agenda that has a significant impact on the death of the economy.
-
Going to be some hefty profits for the old Standard oil guys. Hope Obama is ready to defend that in November.

$4 gas will be here by summer. I don't think we're likely to see $5 gas unless war breaks out in the middle east.
No president can take actions that will appreciably reduce the price of gas in the short term. However, presidents can take actions that improve our long term energy prices. That is where Obama has failed. His idea of an energy policy is to pump billions into subsidizing green initiatives, boost CAFE standards which will only result in smaller, less safe, yet more expensive cars, and hamper domestic oil/gas exploration, production, and refining. We've reached this point through decades of stupidity, and Obama is only the latest and possibly worst iteration.
Thus, while it is not fair to blame Obama for current gas prices, I''ll gladly pay a bit more at the pump if it means ousting this clown from office.
And let's not forget the libs who screamed bloody murder when gas prices shot up under Bush (I think there was even some Cheney/Halliburton conspiracy here), which I suspect is the whole point of dax's sarcastic posts.

Oil prices are high because they want them to be high. The presidents only role is to serve as a puppet scapegoat.
-
KSU T. Boone? = Yes Please
I'm gonna get increasingly raped at the pump every year, so the cats might as well get some jack out of the deal.

I'm starting to think that Obama's refusal to approve the Keystone pipeline is going to be especially costly when gas hits $4.50 - $5.00 this summer.
-

The white house is blaming the republicans for putting a deadline on the decision after 3.5 years of review. I don't know how the poor are going to survive the summer. Pretty sad.
-
I'm starting to think that Obama's refusal to approve the Keystone pipeline is going to be especially costly when gas hits $4.50 - $5.00 this summer.
Yes, because that pipeline would have totally been finished by this summer.

Did I say that? Politically, this decision may be very toxic.

My, oh my. Some guy named David Harsanyi absolutely nails it (http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2012/02/22/arent_high_gas_prices_what_democrats_want_113206.html). Libs like Obama and Chu have been lamenting for years that gas prices aren't high enough.
Gas prices are spiking. That's great news, right? We have to wean ourselves off the stuff. At least that's what we've been hearing for years. Oil is dirty. We import it from nations that hate our guts (like Canada!). And moreover, we're running out. Oil is "finite." Finite much in the way water is finite.
So why aren't Democrats making the case that the spike in prices is a good thing? Isn't this basically our energy policy these days? How we "win the future"? If high energy prices were to damage President Barack Obama's re-election prospects, it would be ironic, considering the left has been telling us to set aside our "dependency" -- or, as our most recent Republican president put it, "addiction" -- for a long time.
If Democrats had their way, after all, we would be enjoying the economic results of cap-and-trade policy these days -- a program designed to increase the cost of energy by creating false demand in a fabricated market. As the theory goes, if you inflate the price of fossil fuels, the barbarians might finally start putting thought into how peat moss might be able to power a toaster.
In 2008, Steven Chu, Obama's (and, sadly, our own) future secretary of energy (sic) lamented, "Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe." The president, when asked whether he thought $4-a-gallon gas prices were good for the American economy, said, "I think that I would have preferred a gradual adjustment."
How gradual? Like, what, four years? Or is it eight?
...
