We took Thomas Robinson completely out of the game. He melted down on Big Monday. He just could not handle getting treated like a normal Big 12 big. He was shook for nearly the entire night. Rodney did not find enough good shots, he did not drive enough, he does not understand how to draw contact and finish and he did not hit 3's for us. Meanwhile Will shoots off like a drunken sailor and Angel tries to force passes to players that have no basketball IQ or hands. Gipson's T was probably the breaking point, but Rodney shied away from the stage. Jamar outplayed Thomas Robinson. He embarrassed Thomas Robinson. Rodney? No answers.

Not hating... but i find it interesting that some posters always seem to blame certain players more than others.
-
Boy that sounds like a shitty offensive gameplan more than bad play from rodney to me.
-
I want more elbow jumpers from our posts out of our offense. :shakesfist:
-
He seems hurt to me. When he had his amazing streak he looked like he had a good first step. He just doesn't look aggressive at all and the FTr is awful again.

Some people choose to heap criticism on a freshman, heap attaboy's on a sophomore for having an equally poor showing and then completely forgot that our best scorer did not step up. Why does Rodney not demand the ball? Why does everyone seem to have more 3 pt attempts than Rodney?

T-Rob was one rebound shy of his 19th double-double. And Withey went off for 18, 11, and 9. But yeah, you guys totally owned us in the paint.
:flush:

No part of his post mentions Withey. I think most non-retards would admit he's a helluva player. But T-Rob was not a factor tonight.

Also, William Self threw the ol Triangle and two on Rodney. But yeah you have a point, I kinds hope he's hurt.

He had an off night, but to say he wasn't a factor would be incorrect. KU doesn't win that game without T-Rob.

And Angel! He didn't do it when all 3 were in the game.

T-Rob got dominated by Jamar Samuels. He was not a major contributor in the win. A 10-9 night for T-Rob is a hell of a defensive achievement. Speaking of defense, he did not play any on Jamar at the top of the key. KU wins this by 20 if Thomas is not moping around on defense because he's not getting his calls at the other end.

I agree. But K-State defended KU's bigs about as well as we could have asked.
-
Bigs were a push. Used scrubs to put Jamar in foul trouble and subsequently our offense. This game was make or break on our guards (hindsight 20/20ish).

most of our games are make or break from the guards. which is why we are having a down year...too much break.
-
JO and Jamar were good, imo. Gip was except for the T. The rest were different levels of bad. Angel takes the cake. Then probably Rodney, then Will, then Southwell.
-
9-36 from the field. 0-11 from 3.
We can't win with that type of shooting from our best guards. Period.
I agree, a lot falls on Rod. But like MIR, I think he's legitimately injured.

This is where Rusty says: But we almost did win, so we CAN win with that type of guard play. I'm not exaclty sure how that works but i'm stupid.

it's hilarious the extent to which rusty goes just so he doesn't have to admit that angel had an awful game.
-
Angel had an awful game. (so did Rodney.) But we could have won. Do you really think we couldn't have won?

It is interesting to look at the plus/minus on statsheet.

We probably just gave T-Rob another year in Kansas.
You're welcome Oregonhawk.

I don't even think Massa :opcat: could pull that one off

Yeah, but we probably punched Withey's NBA ticket. He's a fourth-year guy, afterall, No point in sticking around.
-
I'm more sad for Rodney than mad at him. He wants to play well.
-
Blame this game on Rodney, my ass! You and Stevei Wonder must have watched the game together.
One guy deserves more blame than any other, that would be the guy Frank gives a pass to.
13 Rodriguez, Angel g 0-8 0-4 0-0 1-1 2 3 0 5 7 0 0 27

Angel really did play pretty bad last night. I mean eff.
-
This is probably only the 3rd time I've seen KSU play this year, and I hate to agree with Bobby Knight on anything, but he was dead on about the Spradling/Rodriguez thing last night..
That kid is the one who killed you, he took really bad shots and was just awful at distributing the basketball.. He seemed to have the right idea on where to go with the ball, but he was always a second late, or too early in actually making the pass and it would either put the shooter in a bad position or the ball wouldn't be able to get there (or sail over the guys head)..
He seems to have some ability, and I'm sure he could get away with that stuff in H.S. but it ain't happening against a top 10 team at this level.. He's quick and could get in the lane but then he'd either just throw something up at the hoop with no chance of going in or throw the ball away. Spradling was playing within himself (white guy cliche') and opening things up for your bigs/wings with his shooting and distribution..
You guys have a ton of really athletic bigs/wings, what you're really missing is a consistent 3 point shooter to open things up down low and a guy who can get them ball down there without turning it over so frequently..
Just my 2 cents, and it's probably not even worth that..

don't be so humble, your analysis was very valuable. we can all stand to be reminded not to form opinions based on a single game, or to ever listen to bob knight.

But did you see Rodney's shoes!?!?

That might have been the best back handed compliment I've ever seen.

 I very clearly said I have seen THREE games though, so I'm basically an expert on KSU hoops. :shakesfist:
