Not a surprise, but the numbers verify the suspicions.

Big 12 opponents know us (and Frank) better.
The OOC team that was best in the 2nd half against us was WVU.
-
Frank knows the other coaches better, too.

True. That would be an indictment on Frank (this year) then I suppose.

Or it's random.

2nd halves. Woof.
-
What is the last conference game we have played where we didn't have significant foul trouble by halftime? I think that has more to do with the second-half collapses than anything.

Perhaps, but losing big leads and the other problems in the 2nd half have been too common to be random IMO. And I'm not necessarily saying that Frank is getting "outcoached" consistently in the 2nd half, though that may be part of it. Part of it is players making plays (or not) on both offense and defense too.
That said, I think the issues can be corrected, but we'll have to see about that.

He's lost big leads twice: @UT and @ISU. 3 if you count Baylor.

Yeah, I don't like it. We also lost a big lead against UT at home, but still won. We gave up a good portion of a good lead against Tech at home.

and @OSU to a degree

Well then erasing the big lead at KU cancels both of them out. (tougher game)

Does it count as erasing a big lead if you give it right back up? (Thus, I wouldn't count Tech against us either.)

no, it's stupid to count games that you won as games where you "gave up big leads". i was kidding.

no, it's stupid to count games that you won as games where you "gave up big leads" as if it's some systematic problem. I was kidding.

Agree to disagree I suppose. I think the trend of losing leads is valid to look at (I certainly don't think its stupid), even when you still win some of the games. The point is the ability to have a) long scoring droughts while b) giving up big scoring runs (and long periods of high shooting percentages) to opponents multiple times in a 12 game time span. Turning the ball over generally contributes to both. JMHO, it just shows the issues we are having (shooting, turnovers, and defense) are somewhat interrelated throughout conference play and an issue this team needs to get over to finish well in the last 6 games.
And as to your point on coming back vs KU, the ability to cut into big leads in that manner hasn't been the norm, and the KU game is really the only game I remember us doing that. I suppose the good thing is that we really haven't allowed many opponents to build big leads against us. We do seem to have an ability in many games to at some point build a lead and then not hold it as opposed to allowing an opponent to build a lead and then cut into that lead.

It's normal basketball. This happens to everyone. It's just magnified because we aren't as good this year. If we're a little better the initial lead is bigger and the other team's run is smaller.

aTm led by 10. You could give us credit for cutting a big lead @OU, too if you really want to nitpick. I think we're just witnessing the randomness of basketball played by 18-22 year olds.

Yeah, this makes sense. I think we are saying the same thing really, I'm just trying to explain why we aren't as good, but that pretty much sums it up.

Just so you aren't insinuating that Frank is getting scheme doctored. Because that would hurt.

No, I don't think there is much he could've done differently. I think its much more that our players need to play better.

i think our players, despite not being very good, can play well at times. however, over the course of a game, or a season, their true tendencies are revealed.
we are the Almost There's/75%'ers.
