Pro tip: Age 5 may be too early to introduce E.T. to some kids. My daughter is apparently scarred or life after watching E.T. when she was 5 and refused to watch it with me last night. :frown:

Can confirm. My sister watched it when she was around that age and had nightmares for months. Still hates that movie because of it.

Pee Wee's playhouse + Big Adventure went over well at a pretty early age. Also dig Back to the Future at age 8. Goonies too, 'cept find a way to forward through the first part.

Dark Crystal.
That movie freaked me out as a kid. So did Labyrinth.
-
Super Sunday: A History of the Super Bowl. If you want your kid to love football for the rest of his life, show him this tape when he is 5. I went through 3 of these when I was a kid.

Good thing Mrs. Gooch and I are not having kids. She would undoubtedly turn them into Twi'tards.

I agree with those that advocate Back to the Future I and II. NOT III. (Clara?! )
I'll think of more later.

Be careful, I was crushed when my 5 year old didn't like this holiday classic

Tried to watch this recently. Very annoying. They say "HIYA" every single time they do a karate move. Used to watch it all the time as a kid, but had to turn it off as an adult.

My boys (8 & 11) made fun of me relentlessly when I showed them this year. "Dad, you actually thought this was good?!?! The effects are terrible." I especially remember the 8 year old saying "Dad, you know what my favorite part was? When it was over."
That said, Independence Day, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, LOTRs are all huge hits with them. Huge.

I think poor hemmy has a hard time separating reality from entertainment. He's probably glad Heath Ledger died because he was evil and wanted to kill everybody and he hates Jerry Maguire because he's an eccentric Scientologist.

I watched the trailer on Amazon w/ my daughter. She wasn't interested because she wanted to watch Mighty Ducks and Hoosiers wasn't Mighty Ducks. Also Amazon's trailers are the original ones and there's a very odd white man defeating the big scary black man vibe. (From the trailer)
-
i watched hoosiers pretty young and remember being pretty freaked out at dennis hopper when he was trashed. i was not sure what was going on there
-
funny thing is right after we watched the trailer for Hoosiers we watched the trailer for Glory Road and it was like the exact same concept except black and white were reversed
