Can confirm.  My sister watched it when she was around that age and had nightmares for months.  Still hates that movie because of it.

Tried to watch this recently. Very annoying. They say "HIYA" every single time they do a karate move. Used to watch it all the time as a kid, but had to turn it off as an adult.

My boys (8 & 11) made fun of me relentlessly when I showed them this year. "Dad, you actually thought this was good?!?! The effects are terrible." I especially remember the 8 year old saying "Dad, you know what my favorite part was? When it was over."

That said, Independence Day, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, LOTRs are all huge hits with them. Huge.

I think poor hemmy has a hard time separating reality from entertainment.  He's probably glad Heath Ledger died because he was evil and wanted to kill everybody and he hates Jerry Maguire because he's an eccentric Scientologist.

I watched the trailer on Amazon w/ my daughter. She wasn't interested because she wanted to watch Mighty Ducks and Hoosiers wasn't Mighty Ducks. Also Amazon's trailers are the original ones and there's a very odd white man defeating the big scary black man vibe. (From the trailer)
