I am a stickler on almost all matters spelling/grammar/pronunciation. I mean, I just have a reverence for the language. Just a reverence. I made the switch to pronouncing the first R a few years ago after being chastised by a former teacher of mine for being lazy about it. But here's the thing: it's never felt right. Never. I know that first R is there. I know it. But it just does not feel natural, and you have to admit that pronouncing it is a cumbersome exercise that results in a weird pronunciation mushing of the first few letters (akin to when David Spade's character was high in that one SNL skit and called in to a Home Shopping Network thingy and kept pronouncing the word "rural" like "rrrruuuuuuaalllll").

So yes, I say it like you do, but no, I don't like it. I do it VERY begrudgingly. Thank God it's the shortest month. And as for that former teacher who chastised me, man, you totally should've seen the :horrorsurprise: look on her face when I zinged her with this one:

FT: You KNOW that first R is there! Therefore, if you are literate, you pronounce it FEB-roo-ary!
SB: Oh, really? Do you pronounce it "Wed-nesss-day"???
