Title: Top 25 teams losing on the road. Making myself feel better about KSU @ OU
Post by: nicname on January 16, 2012, 10:55:52 PM
Someone mentioned it in the meltdowny thread a couple days ago (if you are my source kindly take credit), and it is true.

1/16
#3 BU @ #7 KU not over yet but a blowout
#21 Lvill @ #22 Marq 63-74

1/15
#8 IU @ #5 OSU 63-80

1/14
#3 UNC @ FSU 57-90
#7 MSU @ N'west 74-81
#12 UNLV @ #22 SDSU 67-69
#13 Mich @ Iowa 59-75
#18 KSU @ OU 73-82

Some of those teams just played better teams but there are a ton of teams that lose to worse teams on the road throughout the top 25.  Add to that the fact that others like #3 Duke, #2 UK, and #23 Zaga barely escaped games against horrible opponents.

Maybe no reason to be all meltdowny?  :dunno:  I feel like im more mad we let Baylor off the hook.

I'm MUCH more disappointed with the BU loss.  That was a game we not only could have won, we should have won.  Games like OU are gonna happen...i feel much better we got blown out while Frank made a point than if we had lost by a few points while we actually TRIED to win.

Is there anything more tuck than "It's ok we lost cause a bunch of teams lost too!"?

I think having a failure to grasp what top 25 college basketball is like is far more tuckish. Tucks don't pay attention to anyone but KSU and KU. They expect us to be KU, and anything less is failure. JMO.

I think the OU meltdown reached lofty heights because of the momentum created by the BU meltdown, which I think you touched on. It wasn't just the OU loss...it was the OU performance that followed the crash-and-burn of the final 4 mins of the BU game.

It's not that we lost that caused a meltdown, it was how we lost. Completely crap down our leg for 45 straight game minutes

Style points are very popular with tucks. Because KU gets lots of style points and tucks don't realize top 25 teams crap down their legs all the time.

I looked at the OU game as one of the few league roadies that I felt pretty good about . . . toss in a complete cluster to end the game with Baylor, and the absolute joke it is for any team that claims to be a contender to lose to a Scott Drew team on their home floor .  .  . Well, there you have it.

If you're mindset is that K-State is a bubble team, then losing at OU is a not a good thing.

I was disappointed with the OU loss because I don't think OU will finish above .500 in the league. Frank has only lost 5 road games to teams that finished below .500 in Big 12 games and 3 of those were in his first year; losses @ MU, @ Tech, and @ NU. The 08-09 team lost once,@ BU, and last year's team lost @ OSU. Other than that, Frank has beat every league team that finished .500 or worse in league play. Granted, OU could finish better than I think, but I don't see them winning more than 6-7 Big 12 games.

No one is saying losing to OU was a good thing, just that it shouldn't cause anyone to jump off a bridge. It was disappointing, but every team has disappointments similar to this every year. That said, I'm very much enjoying your "lose to scott drew at home" talking point you've got going.

Heh. To be fair to dax, no Big 12 champion has ever lost to Scott Drew on its home court. :dunno:

Yes, I'm a huge tuck.  Multiple goEMAW posters can confirm.

losing to ou was more disappointing because kstate played like crap.  losing to baylor was more disappointing because they had the game pretty close to won and they gave it away.
