It's a long season guys. A lot of our players just needed to get their paws wet in BIG XII play.  Go Cats!  :ksu:

this can't be stressed enough.  did they move the NCAA tornament to January?  :dunno:

If the goal is to win the league, then its legit to be upset. This probably eliminates that.

If the goal is the NCAA tournament, we're still fine.

you can lose 1 game at home and still win the league.  Baylor looks like they can be really good though.  gotta hope they lose to KU and then somehow get one back down there to even it out.  good news is the Baylor / KSU road team has has left with a win the last 3(?) times.  but like i said i think this is the best Baylor team Scott Boo has assembled.

Or if you don't like to watch your team give away games thay had won.

Yeah. I feel like a damn Cubs fan just waiting to see if my team can make it to the last month before being mathematically eliminated. I don't know why I have such different expectations for basketball versus football. I know I'll get all excited for the NCAA again, but until then another 20/10/4 regular season with no real chance to win anything just feels meh.

You can't let it be meh. I'm extremely happy with 20/10/4 and dancing every year. If I ever get disappointed with that I might as well quit being a Cat fan and like Duke or something. I'm not anti-expectations, but I don't know if its reasonable as a K-State fan to expect league titles consistently. I sure don't.

Agreed. I'm still just coming down from the meltdown. I went from thinking we'd be a bubble team to being disappointed at more or less being eliminated from the confy regular season race pretty fast. If we go 5-1 to close out the month, I'll be all excited about seeding and whatnot again. I'm also clinging to sys and his "next year is our time" thing, sarcasm or not.

I don't necessarily think its rebuilding, but its safe to call this a transition year; going from the Pullen era to the next. Its always going to be a transtion year when you lose a player that good. I think its still fair to say a NCAA birth in a transition year is good for a program like K-State.

Right now if we could get a 5/6 seed, a 1st round win, and a chance to beat  a good team to advance to the 2nd weekend that would be a hell of a season.  I don't know if that's realistic right now or not  :dunno:.  There's still also the possibility of winning the Phillips too

I still think its very realistic. We are one of the best 20-30 teams in the country right now, we're just not one of the Top 15.

agreed. This is a blast. I mean, I had to keep telling myself that the 4 next to Baylor's name meant they were ranked 4th in the country. And we made a shitload of mistakes and still could have won. I mean really!

Baylor's good, surprised at how tough it was to get Dboards against them.  Every time they shot FT's or put a shot up I was expecting them to come down with it.

They're good, but they aren't "run away with the conference" good. At least I don't think so.

Yes, better than I thought. And maybe not "run away good", but definitely "have a legit shot to win it good". I'm starting to think it will be between them and Kansas. I think Mizzou will have plenty of trouble winning road games and would put them and us in the 2nd tier of the league. Maybe Texas or another surprise team will join us there.

I mean in the first half when we went up 10 I started to think it would become like the Mizzou game. Then in the 2nd half when we went up 7 I thought we'd still win comfortably. And then when we went up 4 at the 4 minute mark I was probably 95% sure we'd win.

Being angry about the way we played doesn't mean I'm not enjoying the season.  And the carelessness with the ball angered me.  But I'm still enjoying these cats.

And yes I'm done melting down.  Expect a serious meltdown Saturday around 3 if we lose in Norman.

I would love to have a top ten program and WIN a big 12 title once or twice. I'm not taking that for granted. My point is that every year VT is predicted to have an impact, they lose one or two early, make a BCS bowl. After so long of never getting over that hump and playing in a national championship, I'm not sure they will under Beemer.

I would gladly take a year missing the bubble if it meant a final 4 in the following years.

Edit: Our hump is a big 12 ship and a final four. And I say final four very aribitrarily.

I think you need to pick a differnet program then. In the last 19 years VT has finished ranked 17 teams. In the Top 10 seven times. BCS bowl appearance 8 times.

I'd say BCS is equivalent of a Sweet 16, at least close. If you give me a 20 year stretch with seven Top 10s and 8 Sweet 16s I would be estatic.

Its not perfect because VT plays is a horrible conference. They just have to be better than the rest of the shitty ACC football schools.

sorry for any typos, I'm on my tablet.

Acknowledged. Between 96 and Huggins, I barely paid attention. I actually followed it really close during Wooly's last year. Not sure why.  Maybe made it worse? I'm not denying my irrational reactions here.  Given the timeline, I probably just wholesale relocated my crushed football paradigm to the bball team after Huggins.  :dunno:

Yeah, a major uphill battle. And at this point we'd probably half to win out at home and go no worse than 6-2 on the road the rest of the way. Not impossible, but very tough.
