So, like, they are $500 but I've been lead to believe they are worth it. Borrowed my parents when my vacuum finally died and I had no idea how much filth I lived in, specifically how much my hound shed.
Any reason not to buy one? Or should I wait for one of those loser Kirby vacuum salespeople to knock on my door.
I want the one with the yellow ball, they look like a vacuum James Bond would use.
God bless you
-
OT: What about shop vacs and steam cleans. I've successfully used a shop vac to quickly and comfortably removed clogged drains. In my opinion, every home owner needs one. My question would be, what about steam cleaners? Leave it to the pros or invest in quality consumer product?
Thanks, I'll listen off the air.

I have the Dyson Animal. Had no idea Dog and Kat SF left so much hair around. . It was kind of gross the first time we used it.
-
i have the dyson dc24 blueprint. it's pretty great and oh, yawn, it was limited edition so don't worry about trying to find one on the market anywhere.
see the handle? ya, it goes up and down. in the picture it's down. one press of a button and it comes up to regular height. that's what i thought. step the eff off.

yeah, my boring dyson ball does that too. does yours do anything special other than be blue? just curious because I'm kind of researching people who are dumbasses.

YOU AREN'T SUPPOSED TO BE ABLE TO DO THAT! YOU ARE YELLOW!

i got the eureka that has the big "better than dyson!" sign on it. i got it because of that sign. as far as i'm concerned, it is indeed better than dyson. sign > english freakazoid in glasses.
-
wait. does he wear glasses?
-
now that I think about it, I would like a dyson that was blue....and that did things that I thought other dysons didn't do even though they did....
-
Pretty sure any decent vacuum would pick up more crap than your vacuum that just died.

oh, i think you mistook my mentioning the reticulating arm of the dyson dc24 blueprint as something unique to dc24 blueprint. i do not believe that this feature is unique to the dc24. i just didn't want dyson noobs like ajack to think mine was some mini model, because that's the last thing it is.
you know what is unique to the dc24 blueprint? it's limited edition and sold out everywhere. that's what. good luck with your google search, noob.

oh, yeah, blue. man oh man. would love to have.
-
man, i'm outta here. what a bunch of vacuum nubs.
good luck applejack. all i have to say is that you won't be able to find your way around a dyson if you had a map and a compass. seriously.
go get your palm read, i guarantee the lady tells you not to get a dyson because you won't have a freaking clue how to use one properly.

I've had one for over a year and 1/2 now. I had to get the head replaced....just stopped working randomly. Other than that it has done pretty well.
-
Went with the Dyson DC28 Animal :gocho:
Airmuscle Technology By Dyson
Fingertip Controls Adjust Brushes
Root Cyclone Technology
Mini Turbine Brush/Flat Out Tool
-
dyson is currently having a 20% off sale till mother's day /so misogynist
also you can find refurbs on woot.com every now and then
-
I got a refurb one from woot for like $200.00. It works as good as I would expect a vacuum to work. I also got new carpet about a week before I got it.
-
Kirby guy told me theirs were better :dunno:
-
helluva bump on an unpopular thread to begin with
-
Yes. Spectacularly arcane.
-
while we're talking about this old thread again I want to get the motorhead battery one
-
We have purchased another Dyson since this thread was started. Little portable deal. Now I don't have to vacuum the stairs.

I like it!

I think the new one is the DC59 but I don't know the difference between it and that one.
-
I don't have carpet.

this thread sucks

Bought this one for our upstairs hardwood floors. It is awesome. We have a German Shepherd and she sheds like 5 lbs of hair a day so it gets a daily workout.

Did you know that Dyson's void the warranty on most brands of carpet?
that said, I have one. still works great after many years of use.

Carpet guy: What brand of vacuum do you use on your carpet?
Me: Dyson I think.
Carpet guy: Well that voids your warranty sir.
Me: Hold on, let me check to see for sure what we use........nah man, it was a Eureka Windtunnel....my mistake earlier.

Roomba

Roomba
with or without small pet on top?

Roomba
with or without small pet on top?
will report back after I get mine. I have a small cat that I am hoping will ride my roomba from room to room.
-
We got a DC40, which is the step below the DC41 Animal, and it gets clogged all the time with all the hair our dog leaves on the carpet. Every time it clogs, there are 3 or 4 different spots you have to go through to clear the clog, kind of like unjamming a copier. Other than that major problem, it's a nice vacuum.
If you've got a pet that sheds, you should probably go with a different vacuum. Dyson is overpriced for what you get.
-
What's the best one then? Should be in the shame thread but Lady BR let the Kirby guy do his thing since she thinks I need a vacuum. Now she wants one.

Get a 20% off coupon from Bed Bath & Beyond, and buy your Dyson there. Bought one 7 years ago, won't go back to another vacuum brand.

Pretty sure those 20% off coupons expressly exclude Dyson products. Check the fine print. Still, the advantage of buying new from the store is that you can return it if you're not satisfied, which is more likely than you'd think with such an expensive product.
-
i have a shark. no complaints. that woman sure clowns that cockneyed limey blowhard in their tv commercial. i feel pretty good about that.

I just happen to have BB&B coupons with me and the 20% off coupon says it excludes "Dyson Floorcare" but the $5 off coupon does not exclude Dyson at all.

Misunderstood you the first time, but I'll add that we have a Dyson upright and we got all of Mansion's carpets replaced, under warranty, 2 years after moving in.
My wife handles the warranty crap. She must be really good at it. I just say, "go buy a new one." (Mansion, not carpet, because, man, it's rough ridin' carpet)
Gonna win 'em all!

This thread illustrates why pets are disgusting and you are all freaks for owning a pet.
-
I still think the concept of having an animal in the house is weird. Also weird that I can tell them to do crap and they do it. V weird.

To be honest, I have seen more people that disgust me than I have dogs/cats.
