Should LHC Bill Snyder be fired? It would be the 6th straight season under LHC Bill Snyder where we failed to win a bowl game. How much more embarrassment on the national stage are we prepared to endure?
-
Can he win the big one?
-
We are a program that the nation simply expects to win these games. We have to keep up with the expectations....

Operation Banner, on speed dial.

Lamar bilboard people have been notified of pending business...

This streak of no bowl wins could wipe out all the good will and prestige our program has built over the years.
For reference I took a look at the closest program to us, Notre Dame. They went EIGHT YEARS without winning a bowl game and the national writiers started to mock them. Luckily we are not at that level yet(writers still love us) but if we lose this game they may start to turn on us.

Big Game Bill :ohno:

I don't know what alternate universe Kansas State Fans live in, but, it's not the one that NCAA D1 football is played in.
According to wikipedia:
Kansas State's football team officially began play in 1896. The first game recorded in the team's record books is a 14-0 loss to Fort Riley on November 28, 1896.[7] Despite some shining moments in the 1920s and 1930s, by 1989 the school was statistically the worst program in NCAA Division I with a record of 299–509–41.[8]
Fortunes changed in 1989, when the athletic department hired LHC Bill Snyder as head coach. Success and high rankings followed, culminating in a #1 national ranking during the 1998 season and a Big 12 Conference championship in 2003. Between the years of 1993 and 2003, Snyder's teams went 109–29–1 and attended eleven straight bowl games. LHC Bill Snyder retired following the 2005 season, and Ron Prince was named the new head coach.
In his first season, Prince guided the Wildcats to the school's first winning record (7–6) in three years and a spot in the inaugural Texas Bowl. Prince's second and third seasons both ended with 5–7 records. With three games left in the 2008 season, it was announced that Prince would not return for the 2009 season.[9] Prince was replaced by former head coach Snyder, who returned to the school for a second stint.
So, it took fourteen years under Snyder for your team to win its conference and they've lost the last eleven bowl appearances they've been offered?
Again, I'll ask in all sincerity, just what "prestige over the years" do you think KSU football has built? Your team has never won a national championship, they're never
covered or mentioned as a powerhouse team to be feared. You have no national reputation as a consistently solid program because KSU isn't one.
Being a proud fan of a football program is great, but, being delusional about? Yeah.

What just a second there, MISTER! We'll not have any of these 1/2 truths on this site. According to http://www.kstatesports.com/feature/football-bowlgames.html (http://www.kstatesports.com/feature/football-bowlgames.html) we've actually won a few of our last 11 bowl games. How about Arkansas, huh?

Big Game Bill
Edit: damn it....poor timing. 'Grats Madcat

Also, to answer the OP, I'd retain Coach Snyder for another year, but keep him on a VERY short leash! Next year it's Conference Champs or he's outta here! :shakesfist:
-
Would be a pretty embarrassing loss to the 3rd place team in the West division of a crap conference
-
With all of the talent we have coming back, it's BCS bowl or bust next season. If Old Ballz doesn't get it done in 2012, look for Currie to go after Urban Meyer. :crossfingers:

Especially when we normally kick their ass.

Speak for yourself... 3rd place is bad considering who we lost to... You might have heard of them Willie... Alabama... LSU... You know, the teams playing for the BCS National Championship?
I'd say Arkansas has the bigger chance of being embarrassed... NOBODY wants to lose to mediocre KSU team in the slouching Big 12, 10, 8, 6 or whatever you guys are apart of over there...
-
I've never met anyone so absolutely proud of trumpeting who they lost to. It's in every one of their posts. Free publicity, I guess, when the Cats win on Friday.

We are a program that the nation simply expects to win these games. We have to keep up with the expectations....
That is very true. As a child down in our barren, racist, sister loving state, I always followed K-State football. Many Arkansans have done so. We were too poor to have a TV, but I'd go to the local Wal-Mart and watch the national "Game of the Week", and it was always K-State vs. someone else. Every now and then it might be a lesser team like Alabama, LSU, Florida etc., and that infuriated me. I had come to expect seeing nothing but the finest product out there on the field, the team whose brand is second to none, and on the tips of every pundits tongue- KSU.
You bear a heavy burden Mr. Stone.

SRV i know it can be tough. But your honesty is appreciated.

Throw out cotton bowl champs or top 10 program. When KSU wins, I am going to go around saying "we are the team that beat the team who had two losses to Bama and LSU" :ksu:

If we lose we can say we are the team that lost to the team that only lost to the #1 and #2 teams in the nation and for all we know we should be ranked #4.
