He's a player I want to be good some day.
-
I'm a little afraid he may get Franked. Seems like he should be seeing more than mop-up duty by now...
-
Pretty good discussion over in the Diaz thread. General consensus is that he'll be fine. Just needs more minutes to prove that he's more than a bench warmer. Or something like that...
-
Nick was more than a bench warmer and he still got his ass Franked. :ck:
-
I'm afraid Nino is certainly in the Top 3 Franked candidates.
-
Nick didn't play defense.
-
Unless Frank has a solid small forward lined up, id rather have Nino keep his scholarship. Franking him for another Watson would be disappointing.

That wasn't the consensus at all. The consensus is that he is a redshirt freshman that didn't even practice his freshman year and posts like the one jt made in this thread are absolutely ridiculous. He may not pan out to dick, but he just completed his first semester of college basketball. Frankly I've never understood the fascination of Nino as a topic.
-
after the diaz thread discussion, i made it a point to watch him yesterday. he's really out of shape.
-
How many true freshmen are getting more minutes than RS Nino? Frank doesn't seem to mind playing the new guys, if they are good fits. Not saying that Nino can't or won't ever be good, I'm only saying that his lack of PT points to him being a guy that may well get Franked.

There are three players with less experience playing more minutes, none of them are at his position. Just read the last two pages of the Diaz thread.
-
If this thread is about whether or not you think Nino will get run, then my response is that I sure as hell hope not....until after his redshirt Sophomore year. UNLESS, Frank is mysteriously on the the cusp of landing some good HS recruits that we haven't heard of.
Frank hasn't proven he can recruit and land a juco player that is worth two shits.
Running off Nino at this stage of his career for an almost-certain-juco-bust would be more stupid than even Frank is capable of.

Just out of curiousity, how stupid do you think Frank is?

I didn't make the statement but I would think it was assumed that Pete is referring to Frank's roster management, in which he's made some mistakes.
-
Yeah, Frank's management of juco transfers has been weird as hell. Has Frank really shown dude's like Nick the door or have the just wilted under his gaze? Obviously, each player is a seperate case but I was just curious what people thought. (serious question)

i think martin enjoys both giving underrecruited players a high-major shot, and kicking underperforming players off the team. sometimes, with roster spots 11-13, you just gotta do what feels good.

He looked really gassed out there on Saturday.
-
Frank's found more minutes for Nino than any player not in the rotation. In my view, Omari, ho got in the Howard game after white walk-on, is much more a candidate for franking.
-
if he was a stud, he'd be out there playing like one. given that he isn't, who gives a eff about him?
-

The eff is given because some people think that there is potential for him to be better than the players we are forced to play because he is not a stud.

sounds like they're doing scapegoat wrong.

Is this a joke?
There are 11 players in "the rotation." Basically, everybody plays except for the walkons and jucos. And Nino of course.

Please list the 11 or so studs that see mintues before Nino. TIA.

I only give an eff because of our tight scholarship count. I don't really see us being forced to play any crap players because of Nino. Maybe Ojeleye.
I do think we need better talent in the 3-spot. McGruder and Southwell are fine, but I'd love to recruit a top-notch slasher/scorer from the wing. INino is tying up a potential scholarship. That's my only eff with him. Then again, Omari and Watson are Franked, so that will open up 2 scholarships, so really, Nino isn't causing much of a problem. I just want to see him show something, anything, out there. If he can't do it, than so be it. I don't dislike the guy. Seems nice enough. I want him to succeed.
But, he is what he is. just another body for practice. And he's out of shape, at that.
-
Frank telling Omari's dad that he won't let him fail kind of makes me worried that he won't get run

Leaving KSU for a more suiting pace of play where he could play right away with lots of potential PT wouldn't be failing, would it?
Also, maybe he was talking about a really tough sociology 101 test or something? :dunno:
-
nobody should get run. 13 ships is too many, coaches should only get 11.

I miss 95.

It's starting to get scary with how offen threads like these this season are the precursor to a good game by the subject

cue the Sprads thread.
I did that all of last season and the first month of this season. Doesn't seem to work for me :dunno:

maybe a Gip has hit the wall thread?

What's your issue with sprads? Serious Q
-
maybe a Gip has hit the wall thread?
Timing might be good for this, if he can't do something against the dynamic duo of Ricardo Ratliffe and Steve Moore there may be no hope. This will be the smallest front line he'll see all season.

sys mentioned it. He is/was simply a ball mover, wasn't a difference maker at a spot where we sorely needed one. In retrospect my issue should have been what his role was instead of what Will was. But again like sys said, he has been much more aggressive, so no complaints from me.

ya, not alot of above the rim play from those guys. I wish Gip would of taken a few elbow jumpers when his man was standing on the block/charge circle

Kinda liked how angry Sprads looked tonight, very promising. (Sure beats his deer-in-the-headlights look from last year.)
