Peggy Po's
For THREEEE! Zone busted. The Howard coach clearly had been reading some stats and thought to himself "hmmmm...Zone! These turds can't shoot!" Well, debunked. Thoroughly, and just in time for conference play. 13-27! Sprads, Angelito, Jones, and McOrebs!
Sprads is Sprads. The jump in to the stands was an absolute treat. The video team's use of zoom and slow-mo was fantastic. The knock down three's. 13 points. His straight up and down move worked well for defensive purposes, but no charges. He needs to be this version, playing with confidence on the perimeter for ku.
#teamAngelito He loved the flag, he played really solid D, 3-6 from 3. If he can shoot 33%+ the rest of the way, he will be a monster. I'm sorry I doubted. If he plays defense like that against Tyshawn and is as aggressive on the dribble we could cause fits for ku's backcourt. Angelito, I see you.
South-meh What a day! 6a, 1to. Sys: "the straw that stirs the drink." Well, I saw it today. I saw it. He also hit a 3, which is nice.
Nino with 5 boards in 11 minutes Having someone that can rebound on a team with JO and Gipson going forward will be nice. Nino doesn't look like he will be run. Which is good for him.
Attractiveness of our team A clear advantage today.
Brian Rawwroelder Good for you little guy. Townie love.
McOrebs is marching toward the return of the Rod He is not there yet, but he has some swag. Perfect is perfect. 5 boards, 5 steals! A thunder slam after a steal in the open court. What a performance and just in time. Now is where we find out what this season will mean for him. Is it back in to the quiet role player or a team leader? I see you Rod. I see you.
Jeremy Jones is not what we thought he was Tay, tay is about to have some serious competition. This is what happens when you are injured, people steal your minutes. Had a nice stroke, was Martavious-esque on the dribble drive, and finished. Really liked this.
Real men pass the ball Well played Omari.
#teamGip is chugging along, but not confident Until I see evidence to the contrary, I think that we are moving in to a new era of #teamGip. Teams have him figured and I don't think he will be getting many good catches in the post. He is still slow to pass out and when the double comes it is difficult for him because his post moves take to long. It is ok, but I expect him to be a non-factor against KU. The matchups are brutal for him unless there is foul trouble. But I could be reading this wrong. I think he bounces back for a huge game against Mizzou and then it is up and down the rest of the way. Much, much better than anyone could've realistically anticipated out of him already. Solid, respectable clap.
Jam Sam 10 and 8. Finished around the basket. No other comments, as the competition sucked. Please, please, please, please show up against ku.
Nancy Neg's
JO's quest to become irrelevant Why the hell does he do this? I don't understand why he struggles to rebound the basketball so much, but he does. Fine. But what the hell are you doing on defense? Why do you have to be constantly reassured that you are tall and are very capable of being a defensive presence in the lane as a shot blocker? #teamJO is frustrating.
Tay Tay Please come back strong or just walk away and never look back. My emotions are really taking a hit here. I want to love Jeremy but I still love tay tay. I need advice here. I'm torn.
Score Comparison 89-34 to 82-46
Goats Up!
JO "Jesus Christ JO! You're SEVEN FOOT TALL! REBOUND THE DAMN BALL!"
JAMAR! "Got Damnit Jamar! Stop chucking threes!
Gipson! "Damnit Gipson!" (its coming)
Goats Down!
McOrebs, Sprads FOOOR THREEEEEE!

Gruds with the Jordan/Kobe between the legs dribble delay, was amazing.

I'm constantly dumbfounded by the slander of Gip on this board.
People would not be saying half this crap if he finished a bit more at the rim. To me finishing at the rim while being fouled is part of the HS to College learning curve. He will get along just fine.

Jeremy Jones has a quick release and a pure stroke. Getting better every game.

goats up, goats down

NN: Stevesie is not an agressive driver and we missed pregame. Somebody tell us about the tunnel dance led by a kid - Frank's?
-
Not sure if it was little Frank or someone else's kid, but with Martavious having a bum ankle, the kid stepped in nicely and danced his ass off.

Peggy Po mentioned in chat: goEMAW's hatred of crappy walk-ons. We demand excellence like no other fanbase. We don't care if you're unathletic or white, we don't expect you to eff around out there.
Peggy Po: Vic far and away my #1 scapegoat.

How is that possible? It is like saying my uncle that lives in Ohio that I've never met is my scapegoat. He's completely irrelevant.

I don't think there's a person on this board who doesn't appreciate the way that Gip seemingly hurls the ball towards the rim at times.
When you're in the mood to see some big guy just toss the ball towards the rim, Gip is your guy.

Is he on scholarship now? Because if he is, it would be like sending your irrelevant uncle a really nice Christmas gift every year and not getting anything in return

At the very least change his name to Akeem.

jones is exactly who everyone who scouted him said he was. a very good shooter, too thin for the big 12 and can't defend for crap. maybe his game has translated a little better to d1 than some anticipated (to date), but the characteristics were perfectly described.

He's better than I thought, but much of my thought was based on Gilbert/Awaji/Myles. Probably wasn't fair to Jones. Defense has a long way to go, but getting good enough that he's not a liability. He probably won't end up shooting 46% from 3, but his shot off the bench could be an asset in Big 12 play. I'm tentatively leaning toward #teamjones.
-
but getting good enough that he's not a liability.
not a liability against howard, we'll see if he can stay in a game against teams that scout you (and have decent players).
-
We could be unstoppable if we keep hitting 3s like we did against Howard. What a fun game.

Our zone could help mitigate his defensive issues...i would hate to see a player with his offensive skills ride the pine. His scoring could really provide a lift if needed.
