Frank's 4+ year history of games at K-State, ranking them in terms of each opponent's final kenpom rating:
(the 11 games this year are subject to change as each opponent rises/falls in kenpom rating, obviously)
7-12 vs 1-10
7-6 vs 11-20
5-4 vs 21-30
10-9 vs 31-50
11-9 vs 51-75
12-3 vs 76-100
23-1 vs 101-200
17-0 vs 201-300
9-0 vs 300+
4-0 vs NR
Some interesting notes:
Frank has at least one top 10 victory each season (2 last year and 3 in 09-10)
09-10 featured a fantastic 8 top-20 victories
Average opponent rating per year (victories only)
07-08: 134
08-09: 161
09-10: 88
10-11: 123
11-12: 156 (this will go up tremendously during the confy season, obviously)

Who was the 101+ loss too? Nebrasky? I'm probably forgetting an obvious one...

Yep.

The 7-12 record is actually pretty good.
-
you can't count games in November. They don't count.

Freaking Fantastic

21-18 vs bubbleish teams is slightly disappointing, but overall I can't complain too much about Frank's Ws & Ls.
-
Frank has done a tremendous job vs 100+ teams. No really big KITNs there

What was ISU's ranking the year they beat us in the OOD?

slightly OT: _FAN, do you know why kenpom got rid of the light/dark shading for "good" victories and "bad" losses?
-
What would W-L when compaired to K-State's end of year Kenpom look like?
I think that would be a good look at how Frank has done beating teams he shouldn't (higher Kenpom) and not losing to teams he shouldn't (lower Kenpom).
TIA!

no, that's stupid. if the team is good, it's because of martin. likewise, if it is bad.

Kind of a weird Q, but, here you go:
07-08 (#17)
vs higher rated teams: 2-4 (0.333)
vs lower rated teams: 19-8 (0.704)
08-09 (#44)
vs higher rated teams: 2-8 (0.200)
vs lower rated teams: 20-4 (0.833)
09-10 (#7)
vs higher rated teams: 2-3 (0.400)
vs lower rated teams: 27-5 (0.844)
10-11 (#30)
vs higher rated teams: 4-5 (0.444)
vs lower rated teams: 19-6 (0.760)
11-12 (#28)
vs higher rated teams: 1-0 (1.000)
vs lower rated teams: 10-1 (0.909)
The fact that Frank's winning percentage vs higher/lower does not change too much from year to year is another indication of how accurate kenpom's rating system is, imo. Perhaps #44 was even a bit too generous in 08-09, however.

Nice find. I do take exception to your assertion that 44 in '09 may have been generous. The .800 winning percentage is indicative that we weren't overrated. You're supposed to lose to the teams above you so if you want to see the overrated years look to the years with the lower winning percentage of the teams below us.

A valid point

was wondering that too. he removed it last year. sad to see it go and for no real reason.
-
wish he wasn't premium. :frown:
-
damn. we've had some fun victories under coach frank martin. :ksu:
