Assuming we win and cu finishes off tech.
If texas wins:
cu ku

tex mu

osu KSU
ou
baylor aTm

So either way, we have to play one of the okies, probably okie lite. Second game will either be baylor, tex, or atm. Funny that from their loss today, mizzou might fall from the potential #2 to having no bye.
-
K-Lite!!! :flush:
-
Phillips 66 guy, name escapes me, just said Baylor could be the 2 seed if we lose tonight. :nono:

They would have the same record as us, and we beat them.

ah yes, my bad

We're the two seed bros
-
Lomers/Baylor = :frown:
-
could Texas be the worst team to ever be #1?
-
Beat Huggs and we are the #2 no matter what right?

I don't really care about 2 or 3 seed, but we really need KU to beat Texas. I don't want any part of TCU in a 4/5 game.

that was my source, I thought I went through all the options.
I don't want the night game, interferes with my post-Phillips plans.

If we handle our business, we don't need crap.

That's just it, I think we're running into the same buzzsaw on Saturday that OU did last night. Senior night and a win for WVU locks them into the tournament. I have less confidence about winning on Saturday than I do any game between now and the elite 8.

I think WVU is at least in the play-in round regardless, but there's no way they're allowing themselves to believe that. Still, I'm cautiously optimistic about our chances.
Alternatively, an ISU win @Baylor in the early game Saturday would secure a top 3 seed for us. ISU could wind up needing that result to avoid playing (gasp) a Wednesday game, which would be quite a shameful end to their season.

Bob also gets 4 days to focus on nothing but KSU.

Yeah, but he's only sober for a few hours of each of those days.

Fact.
Is it wrong for me to want to play ISU? Usually this is their super bowl, but they look like crap and with Grill being dismissed I have to think they are spiraling downward.
-
I expect a massive foul fest in Morgantown and a lot of home cooking. Wouldn’t be surprised if Tang gets ejected.

I hope he throws a chair.

Hopefully we lose our first game so we can focus on the tourney that actually matters

I just need them there for ticket sales.

No it's not wrong because they might be the easiest matchup right now, especially when they're not in Hilton.
-
Man kenpom really pegged us at 11-7 all season long huh? That's weird
-
Had a big tie for the ‘ship at 12-6 and mumped that one up

Seems we can put that 4-seed in the rearview mirror. Maybe this Grill situation was addition by subtraction?

Yeah, Wyattvision confirmed we are either the 2 or the 3 now
-
Damnit. If KU doesn’t beat texas we are gonna be saddled with TCU. :bang:

TCU with a gimpy Lampkin shouldn't beat us.

This is why I never root for the rough ridin' POS squawks.

when do we play

Thurs night 830 I think

There’s “this game is on too late” and then there’s this game’s tip time

So the latest game of the night. That's not good in a 3-day tourney.

It's fine.
-
lol, what in the world?

tickets for the b12 are high dollar, gonna watch on tv I guess

Not gEing here, can someone explain to me why the Phillips isn’t just a meaningless exhibition like they say bowl games are? Shouldn’t the Cats just keep their chowder dry for the Tour-na-ment?
Have any advanced stats types done research on correlation between conference tournament success and Big Dance success (other than good teams are likely to win a lot in both)
-
Conference tournament winners get an autobid so there is something to play for typically for several teams that wouldn’t make it otherwise. Could potentially move you up a seed line if you win 3 in a row.

I get why some teams don't mind not playing the 3rd day, but I hate thinking of it as a meaningless exhibition.
-
The correlation is that most national champions are conference champions because teams good enough to win the national championship are good enough to win a conference tournament.
The big 12 championship game is on a Saturday night, the teams playing in it will either get 4 or 5 days rest. I'm 250 pounds and nearly 47 years old, I could climb a goddamned mountain with 4 days rest.
It's not an exhibition to us because we've barely won dick in our lifetimes, I'll be damned if I'm gonna too cool for school a trophy I've never seen us win.
-
That's the correct take. We've only played in 2 Phillips Championships ever and have won it 0 times.

Especially if you're a team that needs it to get into the tourny.

Agreed but at the same time it doesn't matter if we get bounced in Thursday. Upside only
-
2 vs 3 matters somewhat to me

If you can promise me the Cats will have enough gas in the tank for the NCAA's I will go all in on the Big 12 tournament.
To win the Big 12 tourney, you have to win three games against the level of opponent you would face to make an Elite 8 or even Final 4. Just want the Cats to be fresh and healthy for the next weekend. The postseason is a lot of fun when the Cats are a contender.
-
Kemba Walker and UCONN won 5(!) straight Big East games to win their conference tournament and then ran the table as a three seed.
-
Prior to that wasn’t it kind of like a Whole Thing that winning the big East tourney was kind of a kiss of death WRT performance in the ncaa tourney? And there was lots of speculation that the winning team was just exhausted from running the gauntlet

TBH it's really only the first weekend you have to really worry about fatigue from a conference tounry. After that it's a game by game thing.

no good reason to try to win tournament games either, really. or any games. dry chowder till you die, like my grandfather always said.

That being said, a Big 12 team has to at least make the F4, and/or win the tourny now

Option A: song sucks because I'm old.
Option B: song sucks and I'm old.

I too was disappointed as I sat on my porch listening along. I mean, it's great that Eminem has come out of retirement for this BigXII commercial but I definitely did NOT lose myself in the music... the moment... nor did I want it. I better let it go.
