But I did have a low top exactly like those above that - but I don't recall having the black accent along the back of the ankle.

same, but  i had white on black, black on white, and green on white.

is it bad if these are still my shoe of choice today?

Bought my first pair in 10th grade.  Just got a new pair for Christmas.  I always wear these or Saucony Jazz.  Always.

No crap.  Had that exact model about 10 years ago and they just hurt like hell.  Seems like they had cheapened them as I had a pair in the 90s that were great.
