Biggest pet peeve. Why would you go out of town and eat at a chain? Went on vacation with my in-laws and that's the only place they would eat. Ruined the entire vacation.

The only time it's OK to eat at a chain is at lunch.

Something about being over 50 or under 20 just leads to people making terrible vacation food decisions. My mom is always asking if we "got a sonic yet".

The only time it's OK to eat at a chain is at lunch.

It's OK to eat dinner at an upscale chain, e.g. McCormick & Schmick's, Ruth's Chris, etc. Also OK on vacation if you don't have that particular chain back home.

McDonald's should be a last resort only.

If you like McDonald's and are craving McDonald's why not eat McDonald's?  Are you supposed to eat Poi every meal?  Also if its a late night run where else are you supposed to go?

Of course, but around here somehow its okay to tell people where to eat on vacation, but not how to eat a steak. :dunno:

It was regular dinner hours Hawaii time last night.

You had to be in yesterday's chat to really appreciate this thread.  Between a Wichita food truck mention by me and the game being in Hawaii, it led to sd discussing an unfortunate incident he had in Hawaii a while back, which was apparently later reenacted by our Cats with Tay playing the role of sd and a myscat playing the role of sd's bitch of a coworker.

Thanks, makes sense there was some context to that.

On long road trips through rural America where yelp is not your friend, sometimes your best option is a medium-well steak at Applebee's.

Can Applebee's actually execute a medium-well steak? I would be impressed. I figured their only options were well done or burnt to a shriveled disc.

Yeah, that's what I meant by last resort. Otherwise, McDonald's is extremely meh and I avoid it if other options are available.
