Can't think of anyone more solid and long term than rocky rhoads.

On Iowa State ending up in close games...
"That is the kind of team we are. We do not have the talent overall that these teams do on our schedule. How many players have we had in the past two years that were drafted? We just do not have those players yet in our program. I think this is our most talented team, and we will have a couple draft eligible players this year. That is part of the reason why this is our best team. I think we played smart, sound and fundamental football to give ourselves a chance to win over four quarters because we do not have the opportunity to blow people out. This is the number 11 team in the BCS, and with a minute and seven sounds left, we are driving down to tie it and go to overtime. Last week's team was one of the best in the country, and we held them to season lows by doing things that other people have not done. I am really excited about the direction of our program, and I am excited about having one game left to play in the season."

I guess Pitt crossed "PBR" off their list.

it's mind boggling. he has a record of 18-19. I guess one upset/one SO PROUD speech a year is good enough for them.

Paul was extremely excited and down right proud that his team had a chance to beat K-State . . . that alone is worthy of a 10 year extension.

I think this is worth repeating here:

Paul Rhodes: 18-19 in 3 seasons, 9-16 in Big 12 games.
Ron Prince: 17-20 in 3 seasons, 9-15 in Big 12 games.

Rhodes is a better coach and has some bigger wins overall, but I still think the comparison is valid.

Prince at least maintained the natural balance of the CTR and went 2-1 in Farmageddon.  Rhodes has lost all of the Farmageddons.

Rhodes had his team in position to tie the #11 team in the country near the end of the game, though.

2 bowl games to one though and prince seemed to have more blowout losses.  still, the comparison is funny.

That is interesting, but I think it's also important to point out that Rhodes has lifted his program slightly, where Ron was lighting his on fire.

Getting Chizik'd was one of the top5 things to ever happen to that program.

Hope he got 10 years worth of flood insurance on that contract. It might float away.

Rhodes had his chance to rebut he didn't return the phone calls, just like he did to the player when he was seeking clarification.
