Title: Advanced stats by half and totals for the season
Post by: kso_FAN on December 06, 2011, 10:06:23 AM
Here are the season averages, though the TO%/OR% for each half isn't complete because I can't find 1st half/2nd half stats for MES/Loyola. Our SID site only provided game boxes for those games. Still gives a decent look at how much better we are playing in the 2nd half so far. (even if stats are for losers)

Season Averages
1st   Pace   PPP   eFG%   TO%   OR%   FTR
KSU   34   0.92   39.2%   21.8%   32.5%   48.6%
Opp   34   0.92   41.6%   20.7%   38.2%   25.6%

2nd   Pace   PPP   eFG%   TO%   OR%   FTR
KSU   36   1.24   59.3%   18.7%   38.2%   55.9%
Opp   36   0.82   32.3%   24.8%   40.1%   55.2%

Total   Pace   PPP   eFG%   TO%   OR%   FTR
KSU   71   1.06   49.0%   19.7%   38.0%   51.2%
Opp   71   0.83   37.0%   23.9%   36.4%   38.2%

38.0 isn't terrible and it will get better. Frank's first 4 teams were 42.5, 42.9, 40.4, and 41. I think this team will be around the same.

Pretty extraordinary. If 2nd-half Cats could show up for both halves, we'd beat just about everyone, right? Those 2nd-half numbers are substantially better than Alabama's overall stats (http://statsheet.com/mcb/teams/alabama/team_stats?season=2011-2012&type=all). The eFG% (both offensively and defensively) is better than Ohio State's (http://statsheet.com/mcb/teams/ohio-state/team_stats?type=all). :crossfingers:

Mainly look at the last one. I only had numbers from 3 of the 5 games for the first 2.

But yes, we are giving up more than we should right now. First 4 seasons under Frank were 32.9, 32.6, 34.0, and 30.7 for opponents.

usually having two people go for blocks every shot probably isn't helping that number, is it?

I always felt like Franks teams wear the other team down in the second half, are there any stats to back up this hypothesis?
