well we kinda got handled, while on the road i understand. KK(eitz) said today that Lunardi basically said we couldnt be a one seed no matter.... then this?? that was what my WTFage was about

Lunardi also said we would only have an outside possibility if we beat kansas tonight and ran the Big 12 tourney and beat kansas again in the championship.  If we lost, it would go to Duke if they kept going (which they didn't) then if we lost it would go to the big 10 champ or another big east team (which Katz and gottlieb ridiculed him for)

So all in all, no one really knows.  Bracketologist = tard

Do we really want the pressure of a #1 seed?  We haven't handled pressure real great this year... makes playing the disrespect card a little harder.

Duke's loss was worse than ours.

Duke's loss was worse than ours.

Although this is undeniably true, it doesn't "feel" true yet.

Goodman breaks it down very well.  3 teams have clearly seperated themselves from the rest.  Then there are a bunch of teams battling for that other spot.

We either a) want to earn that last spot, which will probably take winning 3 in KC, or b) we want to be the 2-seed in the region with the team that earns the last spot.

Wouldn't we rather be the top 2-seed than the bottom 1-seed? Do we know what region that would put us in? Seems to me the 2-seed in the Midwest would be preferable over the 1-seed in the West.

:dunno:

It could change depending on conferences, etc., but its likely the Top 2 seed and bottom 1 seed would be in the same region.

Of course I'm pretty new to breaking down 1 and 2 seeds, so I could be wrong.

IMO, come Sweet 16 and Elite 8 time it's not really going to mattter.  All the teams will be good and difficult to beat.  It's more for bragging rights.

No doubt.  If we get to the Sweet 16 or Elite 8 I'm not going to complain.

Not gonna lie, I can feel myself coming to the point where a Sweet 16 exit will probably be disappointing to me.

I'm trying to resist it, but I can feel the impending storm.

Wouldn't Duke rather be a #2 in the East than a #1 in the West?  I'd rather just play close to home.  Don't really see a big difference b/w 1 and 2 I guess

Of course I'm pretty new to breaking down 1 and 2 seeds, so I could be wrong.

The TV guys usually claim that the seedings are snaked so that the top 1 seed gets the lowest 2 seed and the lowest 1 seed gets the top 2 seed, but explanations of how the tourney committee arrives at its seeding and placement decisions usually seem worthless.  At the end of the day, it seems to just be a "totality of the circumstances" thing, and it's anybody's guess which circumstances were focused on or whether they were even correct.  For instance, the year the committee gave Texas a #1 seed instead of KU, who dropped to a #2 seed, and the chair's explanation was: "We felt the regular season matchup should count for something."  Thing was, KU won the regular season matchup that year.
