I would go with the 87 team because of the one tie game. I think that puts them over the top.

88 was the best year in Kansas State History, dumbstick.  Mitch Richmond, Steve Henson.  Oh wait that year we actually played and BEAT the top 2 teams in the country.  Some multiple times.

I  clearly know how to spell kstate assmunch.  I simply did not chose it as my user name because I prefer Ksate as that is my favorite form of meat on a stick.
